Point guard John Wall leads Wizards to win with double-double over Knicks

How many of you watch the game on ESPN between the Washington Wizards and the New York Knicks?  I had the opportunity to watch most of it.  I wish I could have placed a bet on this game, because I knew before it started that the Washington Wizards were going to win this game.  The Wizards had no problem getting to the rim, because of the lack of interior defense from the struggling New York Knicks.  John Wall had some incredible shots in this game, and I was seeing some back to the basket playing.  Maybe Wall could teach some of the NBA's big men how to play in the post. The Washington Wizards defeated the struggling New York Knicks 102-91.  Point guard John Wall lead the way with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 assists.  Bradley Beal added 17 points on 2 of 5 shooting from three.  Kris Humphries added 14 points and 6 boards off the bench.  Here are the stats for each team.

John Wall and Marcin Gortat achieve doubles-doubles to win over Magic

Last night I was at the Amway Center watching the Orlando Magic take on the Washington Wizards. This was my first ever NBA game that I've been to. It was a great experience. John Wall and Marcin Gortat both acquired double-doubles to help the Washington Wizards defeat the Orlando Magic in Orlando 105-98. The Washington Wizards were ahead by 17 at one point into the game around the 3rd, 4th quarter. The Orlando Magic fought back and cut the Wizards lead to 2 toward the end. John Wall and company were just too much for the Magic. Here are the top 5 scorers for each team

Top 5 Washington Wizards Scorers

John Wall- 30 points, 12 assists, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, 10/21 FG, 2/5 3PTFG
Marcin Gortat- 20 points, 12 rebounds, 10/13 FG
Paul Pierce- 16 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 6/13 FG, 2/2 3PTFG
Nene- 12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, 5/10 FG
Garrett Temple- 12 points, 4/8FG, 2/3 3PTFG

Top 5 Orlando Magic Scorers

Nikola Vucevic- 23 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 11/21 FG
Ben Gordon- 22 points, 4 assists, 7/12 FG, 6/7 FT, 2/5 3PTFG
Evan Fournier- 21 points, 4 rebounds, 8/10 FG, 3/4 3PTFG
Tobias Harris- 14 points, 4 rebounds, 4/12 FG, 5/7 FT
Luke Ridnour- 8 points, 4 assists, 4/7 FG

Washington Wizards Thoughts

  1. John Wall is a top ten point guard in the NBA Today.  Wall can not only score, but can dish out the rock as well.  He delivered the clutch shot to help the Wizards keep from starting the season 0-2
  2. Marcin Gortat ex Orlando Magic center shot 10 of 13 from the field.  He was banging down low and did a great job
  3. Paul Pierce got off to a rocky start, but finished with 16 points. Good night for Pierce
  4. Garrett Temple filled in nicely for injured shooting guard Bradley Beal. Temple shot 50 from the field and 66 percent from three this game.
  5. The Wizards turned the ball over less which is one of the reason I felt they won, in spite almost blowing a 17 point lead

Orlando Magic Thoughts

  1. Center Nikola Vucevic is playing great.  I love the fact that he is a walking double-doubles. He opened up the season with 23 rebounds and had 12 tonight.  Vucevic if he can keep playing like this should be an all-star.
  2. Ben Gordon surprised me at Amway Center.  I thought he was going to drop another 1 for 8 performance. I saw the Ben Gordon last night that I watched in Chicago.  20 point scorer Gordon. If BG can play like this 2 out of 3 games then I'm happy with the signing.
  3. When rookie point guard Elfrid Payton was out, and Luke Ridnour came into the game, I noticed the Orlando Magic started coming back.   They got the 17 point deficit down to 2 towards the end of the game. John Wall was just too much.   I applaud there effort in the 4th and they fought back.
  4. Why isn't coach Jacque Vaughn using Maurice (Mo) Harkless?  Did they have a riff or something?  Is he secretly injured?  These questions leave me to ponder?
  5. Another solid production from rookie power forward Aaron Gordon.  He had an dunk in the game. I wish I could have taped the video from my phone to show it.  Aaron Gordon scored 4 points and pulled down 4 rebounds on 2 of 4 shooting.
  6. Rookie Elfrid Payton scored 2 points, 7 assists and 3 rebounds in 22 minutes.

How many Wizards fans were at the Amway Center last night?  If you were or even if you weren't, what did you think of the game? Send me your comments. Thank you for reading Pro Basketball Hoops Land. The place where you can read articles, send comments and purchase pro basketball merchandise.

Is Bradley Beal the real deal? Wizards take game 1 behind Beal 25 points: Ariza added 22 points

I think you would have to consider Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal a current top ten shooting guard in the NBA. Do you agree with me on this? Bradley Beal last night help the Washington Wizards defeat the Indiana Pacers 102-96 to take game 1 on the road. The Wizards are a perfect 4-0 on the road in the postseason. Bradley Beal lead the way for the Wizards with 25 points, 7 assists, 7 rebounds, 5 steals, and 3 of 5 shooting from three point land. Trevor Ariza scored 22 points and pulled down 6 rebounds. Nene scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks. Speedy and athletic point guard John Wall scored 13 points, 9 assists and 5 rebounds. Center Marcin Gortat scored 12 points, 15 rebounds and 3 blocks. Underrated power forward Drew Gooden added 12 points and 13 rebounds off the bench. The Wizards impress me so far in these 2014 NBA Playoffs. I thought Bradley Beal was playing like a veteran last night. I feel good about the backcourt of the Washington Wizards going into the future. What is your opinion about the future of the Southeast Division Eastern Conference Washington Wizards? Send me your comments on this.

Nene scores 24: Ariza adds 18 to lead Wizards to game 1 win over Bulls

In the Eastern Conference the series between the Washington Wizards and the Chicago Bulls is my favorite. I believe this will be a 7 game series. I thought Chicago would win this game, but it was Nene who scored 24 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals to lead the Washington Wizards to a game 1 over the Chicago Bulls 102-93. Trevor Ariza added 18 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists for the Wizards. All star point guard John Wall scored 16 points, 6 assists, 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Center Marcin Gortat achieved double-double stature. Gortat scored 15 points and 13 rebounds. Shooting guard Bradley Beal added 13 points and 7 assists. What did you think of this win for the Wizards? Do you believe the Wizards will win this series? If yes, how many games? Send me your comments on this game.
For the Chicago Bulls, Kirk Hinrich and D.J. Augustin each scored 16 points. Jimmy Butler scored 15 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Taj Gibson added 12 points and 6 rebounds. Chicago Bulls were last in scoring in the 2013-2014 season. Who should they add for next year? I think they should try and get Carmelo Anthony if possible. Who will win game 2? Game 2 is on Tuesday night on TNT at 9:30 Eastern Time, 8:30 Central Time. Send me your thoughts on this game or any other game. Thank you for reading Pro Basketball Hoops Land.

Wizards defeat Celtics behind Beal scoring 27: Wizards impressive season

The Washington Wizards are going to be playing the Chicago Bulls in the 1st round of the 2014 NBA Playoffs. I think this could potentially be a great series. The Washington Wizards finished the season with a 44-38 record and are the 5th seed in the Eastern Conference. I'm loving the young core of John Wall and Bradley Beal, while seeing veterans Trevor Ariza, Marcin Gortat, Drew Gooden, Andre Miller, and Nene. I will give my predictions tomorrow on this series. The Washington Wizards defeated the Boston Celtics 118-102. Two guard Bradley Beal lead the way for the Wizards with 27 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, shot 10 of 14 from the field and 3 of 5 from three point land. Trevor Booker scored 20 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Marcin Gortat scored 15 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks. All-star point guard, John Wall scored 15 points, 9 assists and 2 steals. Small forward and athletic defender, Trevor Ariza scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Nene added 12 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. How impressed are you with the season of the Washington Wizards? Send me your comments. For the Boston Celtics, Kelly Olynyk lead the way with 24 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and had 10 of 16 shooting. Jeff Green scored 20 points and 4 rebounds. Avery Bradley scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Brandon Bass added 16 points and 7 rebounds. Who should the Boston Celtics draft in the 2014 NBA Draft? Send me your comments on this game or any other game. Thank you for reading Pro Basketball Hoops Land. I hope you enjoy the 2014 NBA Playoffs.

Wizards clinch a playoff spot with win over Celtics: Gortat scores 22: Beal adds 19

The Washington Wizards are one of the most underrated teams in the NBA. You rarely if not at all see any televised games on ESPN, ABC, or TNT. I hope next season we will start to see more Washington Wizards games on TV. Last night the Washington Wizards for the first time since 2008 clinched a spot in the 2014 NBA Playoffs. The Washington Wizards defeated the Boston Celtics 118-92. Center Marcin Gortat lead the way with 22 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Bradley Beal scored 19 points on 7 of 8 shooting. Trevor Ariza scored 18 points, 7 rebounds and had 3 of 6 shooting from three point land. All star point guard John Wall added 13 points, 10 assists and 3 rebounds. What are your thoughts about the Wizards performance this season? How far do you think they will go in the 2014 NBA Playoffs? Wizards fans I'd love to hear your comments about this season so far.

For the Boston Celtics, Jared Sullinger lead the way with 25 points, 4 rebounds and shot 8 of 15 from the field. Rookie Kelly Olynyk scored 14 points and pulled down 4 rebounds. Pass-first point guard Rajon Rondo scored 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Jeff Green added 13 points and 3 assists. What players would you like to see the Boston Celtics draft in the 2014 NBA Draft? Send me your thoughts on this game or any other game. Thank you for reading Pro Basketball Hoops Land. Wizards win behind John Wall scoring 25: Wizards close to playoff contention

The Washington Wizards trading this year's first round pick to the Phoenix Suns to land center Marcin Gortat. What was their thinking? Their plan was to make the playoffs. They are close to it. If the Knicks lose to the Golden State Warriors tonight then the Washington Wizards will make the playoffs. The Washington Wizards defeated the Atlanta Hawks 101-97. All-star point guard John Wall lead the way with 25 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. Power forward Drew Gooden scored 16 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals. Shooting guard Bradley Beal scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Trevor Ariza scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Center Marcin Gortat added 12 points, 11 rebounds, 4 blocks and 2 assists. I believe the Wizards will make the playoffs. How far do you believe the Washington Wizards will go in the 2014 NBA Playoffs? I like some of their talent (Wall,Beal, Gortat, Gooden, Ariza, Nene). For the Atlanta Hawks, point guard Jeff Teague lead the way with 19 points and 3 assists. Paul Millsap scored 17 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Pero Antic added 13 points and 12 rebounds. Cartier Martin scored 13 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Louis Williams added 12 points on 4 of 10 shooting in 32 minutes of playing time. Will the Hawks make the 2014 NBA Playoffs? Wizards fans how excited are you this season about this team? Send me your thoughts on this game or any other game. Wizards win 5th straight game in triple overtime Thriller: Wall and Gortat score 31

The Washington Wizards are playing impressive basketball this season. I loved the pickup of Marcin Gortat. Last night the Washington Wizards defeated the Toronto Raptors 134-129 in triple overtime. John Wall and Marcin Gortat scored 31 points. Wall scored 31 points, 9 assists and 3 rebounds. Gortat scored 31 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. The Wizards are currently sitting in the 5th seed in the Eastern Conference. Trevor Ariza scored 16 points and 10 rebounds. Chris Singleton scored 13 points and 9 rebounds in 25 minutes off the bench. Bradley Beal added 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assiss. Andre Miller scored 11 points on 5 of 7 shooting in over 14 minutes of action. I think the backcourt combo of John Wall and Bradley Beal makes the Wizards an exciting and interesting team for the future. For the Toronto Raptors DeMar DeRozan scored 34 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds. Greivis Vasquez scored 26 points, 8 assists on 11 of 19 shooting. Kyle Lowry added 18 points, 10 assists and 9 rebounds. Amir Johnson scored 16 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks. Do you think John Wall and Bradley Beal is the best backcourt duo in the NBA? How do you feel about the future of the Washington Wizards? Raptors fan how impressed are you with DeRozan and Lowry this season? Washington Wizards and the 3rd pick in the 2013 NBA Draft

I'm really impressed with how the Washington Wizards are progressing to some extent. They got John Wall who I consider an amazing point guard, drafted Bradley Beal which I feel was an excellent choice and have Nene as there center. I have a list of players they should take with the third pick and some of these could still be there with the 3rd pick. 1) Anthony Bennett is my first choice because of the fact that he is a combo forward. He could give the Wizards a guy who could play some power forward which to me is one of there needs in this draft. Bennett I feel will be a beast in this league. Will Bennett the six foot seven combo forward be the best player in this draft? Probably not but I do believe that he will be a solid player in this league. So I think many people will sleep on Bennett but this would be my first choice if I'm the Wizards and the 3rd pick. 2) The second player I feel that the Washington Wizards should look at will be Otto Porter the small forward from Georgetown. Porter is a solid defender. Georgetown is known for defensive drills in practice. If Bennett isn't taken then Porter would be a solid choice and could fit in really nice for the Washington Wizards. 3) The third player that the Wizards should look at would be combo wing man out of Indiana Victor Oladipo. Oladipo is six foot four and can play either the shooting guard or small forward. He could give the Wizards defense especially against Carmelo Anthony, Lebron James and Dwyane Wade. Oladipo is not only a great defender but is oozing with athleticism. Oladipo can get to the rim and will also help John Wall get some assists. I'd like to see the headaches that Oladipo could cause for the Miami Heat when he goes against them or the New York Knicks. So those are my choices for the Washington Wizards. Do you agree or disagree? Why or why not? I'd love to hear from you on this. Thank you for reading my NBA Blog.

Wall's double double leads Wizards to victory over the Bucks

John Wall last night scored 23 points and had 10 assists to lead the Wizards to a 106-93 win over the Milwaukee Bucks. Wall also had 6 rebounds. Martell Webster scored 20 points and had 4 rebounds. Trevor Ariza scored 14 points off the bench. Nene scored a double double with 13 points and 13 rebounds while also adding 6 assists. Trevor Booker added a double double off the bench. Booker scored 13 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. I really thought the Washington Wizards were going to be a better team than they showed this year. For the Milwaukee Bucks Monta Ellis lead the Bucks with 26 points. Ellis also had 8 assists and shot 12 out of 19 from the field. Ersan Ilyasova scored a double double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Larry Sanders who has got to be a candidate for defensive player of the year also had a double double. Sanders scored 17 points, 11 rebounds and had 2 blocks. J.J. Redick added 16 points off the bench and shot 3 out of 7 from three point range. I thank you for reading my NBA Blog. I encourage you to send me your comments. Who Should Washington Wizards take with the 6th pick?

Last year the Washington Wizards got lucky in the NBA Draft and got to select John Wall with the 1st pick. I actually kinda thought they'd get that lucky again. They did get the 6th pick and here are some of the players I feel they should take. One of them many will call me an idiot until you see my reasoning behind it.

1) Jan Vesely- This is my first choice for this team. I feel that a 6'11" combo forward are what the Wizards need. They have there point guard in John Wall and Nick Young is improving at shooting guard. If Josh Howard comes in then Vesely could play the 4. I feel he will be a good scorer maybe a 15 and 7.

2) Tristan Thompson- a power forward who could really help alongside Javale McGee. Can play on both ends of the court. They have him projected to go to Houston Rockets at 14 but could go here possibly.

3) Enes Kanter- I feel he will be gone here but if not you take him. Also could be really good on the board and will help out Javale McGee.

4) Kemba Walker- Ok before you call me an idiot let me explain my theory on this one. Imagine Kemba playing the board and Wall playing the 2. Imagine how many fast break points the Wizards could get if they took Walker. Wall can play the 2. Also the other option if Walker goes out then Wall slides to the point and Nick Young comes in as sixth man. This could be a fun pick if Wizards select Kemba. Kemba runs fast and reminds me a bit of Iverson.

5) Kawhi Leonard- Like i said they need a forward. Also i feel his defensive presence could really help here.

So who do you want to see the Washington Wizards take on draft night? Should they trade the pick?

Washington Wizards blow out the Atlanta Hawks like birthday candles

The Washington Wizards Saturday Night did something I think is rather shocking. They blew out a playoff team the Atlanta Hawks like birthday candles by defeating them 115-83. Andray Blatche led the Wizards in scoring with 23 points. Rookie point guard John Wall added 19 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Yi Jianlian added 15 points and 9 rebounds. The Wizards need to play like this more often. As for the Atlanta Hawks Al Hortford had a double double with 21 points and 10 rebounds, Joe Johnson added 16 points and 7 rebounds and Jamal Crawford added 13 points. The Washington Wizards will have to look toward the NBA draft next year to turn the franchise around. This was a great game by the Wizards as for the Hawks why win when you already clinched a playoff spot.
