2015 NBA Finals Game 1: Warriors take game 1 in overtime

The year was 1975,  two things happened,  1) This was the year I was born,  2) Most importantly this was the last time, the Golden State Warriors won an NBA Title and was in the NBA Finals.   After 40 years of rebuilding, struggling, making the playoffs and getting bounced out, the Golden State Warriors finally achieved the goal of getting back to the Finals.   I don't know how many of you watched the game last night, but I know I turned on to ABC and watching game 1.  At first it was the Cleveland Cavaliers coming out and dominating, but in the back of my mind, I was thinking, no way is this game over even when they were ahead by 14 points.   Warriors point guard Stephen Curry, and shooting Klay Thompson are hard to stop.  If one of them has a great game the Warriors have a shot, if both of them have a great game, then it's usually over for the opposing team.

I was hooked from the moment the game started, to the end of it.  I didn't even want to at all get up to go to the bathroom, because of what I was seeing.  Golden State Warriors and wing defender Andre Iguodala was playing good solid defense on Cleveland Cavaliers small forward, and considered the best player in the NBA Lebron James.   My eyes were glued to the set because it was too exciting, and more exciting than the 2014 NBA Finals.  This is the best Finals I've seen in a long time.

The Golden State Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 108-100, to win game 1 at Oracle Arena in Oakland California where there were 19,596 fans attending the game.   Stephen Curry lead the way for the Warriors with 26 points, 8 assists and 4 rebounds.   Klay Thompson scored 21 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks.  Andre Iguodala scored 15 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists.  Draymond Green scored 12 points and 6 rebounds.  Harrison Barnes added 11 points and 6 rebounds. Here are the full stats for the Warriors

Congratulations to the Golden State Warriors for winning game 1.    Here is some 2015 Finals merchandise for you if you would like to purchase some.

It's nice to see in the absence of David Lee and Andrew Bogut that Marreese Speights and Draymond Green step up.  Do you think this team has what it takes to win a title this year in a tough Western Conference?  What are your thoughts on the performance of Marreese Speights? Curry drops 30 for the Warriors against the Lakers in hot 8-2 start: Lakers fall to 1-9

I knew the Golden State Warriors were going to be a good team this season in the NBA. I didn't know they would start off this good at 8-2. Last night against the L.A. Lakers Stephen Curry dropped 30 points to help the Golden State Warriors defeat the Los Angeles Lakers 136-115. Teams have got to start getting up on Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, or the Splash Brothers will splash shots all day against you. Here are the stats for each team.

Top 5 Golden State Warriors Scorers

Stephen Curry- 30 points, 15 assists, 4 rebounds, 10/19 FG, 5/9 3PTFG, 5/5 FT
Marresse Speights- 24 points, 9 rebounds, 8/11 FG, 8/8 FT
Klay Thompson- 18 points, 3 assists, 3 rebounds, 3 blocks, 5/11 FG, 2/7 3PTFG, 6/6 FT
Andrew Bogut- 15 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 7/9 FG, 1/1 FT
Harrison Barnes- 14 points, 2 rebounds, 4/8 FG, 4/5 FT, 2/3 3PTFG

Top 5 L.A. Lakers Scorers

Kobe Bryant- 44 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 15/34 FG, 11/16 FT, 3/12 3PTFG
Jordan Hill- 15 points, 11 rebounds, 4/9 FG, 7/9 FT,
Ed Davis- 10 points, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 assists, 2 steals, 5/10 FG
Robert Sacre- 10 points, 3 rebounds, 5/8 FG, in 15 minutes and 12 seconds of playing time
Jordan Clarkson- 10 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, 2/6 FG, 6/6 FT

Golden State Warriors Thoughts

  1.  Getting off to an 8-2 start has to feel good for the Warriors and their fan base.  Can they keep this momentum going?
  2. No doubt about it, in my opinion the best back court in the NBA is Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.  Both shooters who can and do on most nights get it done offensively
  3. 30 and 15 from Curry proves why he is one of the best point guards in the game.  Curry is in my eyes a combo of a shoot first and pass first point guard.
  4. 24 and 9 from Marresse Speights solid performance from him off the bench. If he can keep playing like this, he will get some increased playing time.
  5. The Warriors have some good depth on this team just take a look
c- Andrew Bogut, Festus Ezeli
PF- David Lee, Marresse Speights
SF- Harrison Barnes, Andre Iguodala, Draymond Green
SG- Klay Thompson, Leandro Barbosa
PG- Stephen Curry, Shawn Livingston

L.A. Lakers Thoughts

1. Kobe shouldn't have to shoot 34 shots in a game.  Kobe can't do it alone.
2. I know it's early in the season, and I had this team as my close but no cigar team,  but 1-9 is an awful terrible pathetic start.
3. If the Lakers don't finish in the worst 5 in 2015 NBA Draft, the Phoenix Suns will get their pick.  I'm all for the mentality of either making the playoffs or stink up the joint. At 1-9 I know Kobe wouldn't want this, but go ahead and stink up the joint, and draft Emmanuel Mudiay, Jahii Okafor or Karl Anthony Towns.

Final Thoughts

Good win for the Warriors on the offensive end,  but giving up 115 is not good.  Hopefully the Warriors will fix themselves on defensive in the coming games. Only unbeaten team in the NBA: Golden State Warriors send Rockets to their first loss of the season

Both the Houston Rockets ( 6-0) and the Golden State Warriors (4-0) came into this game undefeated. You know it's frustrating that one of these teams has to lose. Well Saturday Night the 4-0 ( now 5-0) Golden State Warriors defeated the 6-0 Houston Rockets 98-87. Stephen Curry can shoot and score lights out. Here are the stats for each team.

Golden State Warriors Top 5 Scorers

Stephen Curry- 34 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals, 13/19 FG, 6/9 3PTFG, 2/2 FT
Andre Iguodala- 15 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 6/11 FG, 2/4 3PTFG, 1/2 FT
Draymond Green- 14 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 assists, 6/13 FG, 1/5 3PTFG, 1/2 FT
Klay Thompson- 11 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds, 3/16 FG, 5/8 FT, 0/6 3PTFG
Andrew Bogut- 8 points, 18 rebounds, 4 blocks, 4/10 FG, 0/1 FT

Houston Rockets Top 5 Scorers

James Harden- 22 points, 7 assists, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, 8/24 FG, 1/11 FG, 5/6 FT
Isaiah Canaan-  21 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 7/12 FG, 3/7 3PTFG, 4/4 FT
Donatas Motiejunas- 16 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals, 5/10 FG, 4/4 FT, 2/3 3PTFG
Jason Terry- 11 points, 2 steals, 3/8 FG, 2/6 3PTFG, 3/3 FT
Trevor Ariza- 7 points, 11 rebounds, 2 steals, 3/16 FG, 0/6 3PTFG, 1/2 FT

Golden State Warriors Thoughts

  1. Klay Thompson had a bad shooting night, but it happens.  Stephen Curry stepped up in his place though
  2. Stephen Curry was hot in this game, it seemed like he almost couldn't miss.  Curry is one of the best shooters in the game.  All the team who passed on him in the draft have to be kicking themselves in the foot.
  3. The Warriors shot 44 percent for the game.
  4. Out rebounded the Rockets 54-46.  When you out rebound your opponents on the glass, your odds of winning improve.
  5. Nice performance in the paint for Andrew Bogut with 4 blocks.
  6. I have wanted Draymond Green to play more, and now he finally is.  Solid shooting night from him from the field.
  7. Being the only undefeated team has to feel good for coach Steve Kerr.  I still miss Mark Jackson, but Kerr is off to a great start so far.

Houston Rockets Thoughts

  1. Houston loves to live by the three and die by the three.  They took 42 three's in this game and only made 10 of them, for a percentage of 23.8.  I think they must cut back on the three's, unless they start getting hot when trying them.
  2. The Rockets only shot 34 percent for the game.  1 out of every 3 shots is not going to win you games unless your opposition shoots 0 of 3.
  3. I have underestimated this team.  I thought losing Chandler Parsons would hurt this team.  It has helped them with the arrival of Trevor Ariza who can get it done on defense and offensive too.

Final Thoughts

Congratulations to the Golden State Warriors for improving to 5-0.  Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are the best back court in the NBA.   Thank you for reading Pro Basketball Hoops Land. If you missed the game, check out the video below for some great highlights.

Klay Thompson shows he's worth his contract which helps Warriors send the Lakers to 0-4

Klay Thompson got an extension from the Golden State Warriors.  Stop me if I'm wrong,  Klay is getting a 4 year extension worth 70 million dollars.  Last night he put on an offensive clinic by scoring a career high 41 points, to help the Golden State Warriors defeat the Los Angeles Lakers 127-104.   Here are the top 5 scorers for each team.

Top 5 Golden State Warriors Scorers

Klay Thompson- 41 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 14/18 FG, 8/9 FT, 5/7 3PTFG
Stephen Curry- 31 points, 10 assists, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, 10/19 FG, 8/8 FT, 3/8 3PTFG
Harrison Barnes- 15 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 5/6 FG, 4/5 FT, 1/2 3PTFG
Draymond Green- 9 points, 5 rebounds, 3/9 FG, 2/2 FT, 1/2 3PTFG
Andre Iguodala- 9 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 4/8 FG, 1/4 3PTFG

Top 5 L.A. Lakers Scorers

Kobe Bryant- 28 points, 6 assists, 2 steals, 12/28 FG, 3/6 FT, 1/6 3PTFG
Jordan Hill- 23 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks, 10/14 FG, 3/4 FT
Wesley Johnson- 15 points, 4 rebounds, 6/9 FG, 2/3 3PTFG, 1/1 FT
Ed Davis- 13 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 5/7 FG, 3/5 FT
Carlos Boozer- 9 points, 4 rebounds, 4/9 FG, 1/1 FT

Golden State Warriors Thoughts

  1. Can Klay Thompson put up at least 20 points per game after this game?  He proved tonight that he is worth the extension he got.  Can he keep it going?
  2. The Splash Brothers are the best back court in the NBA.  There are other good back courts, but I find Klay and Curry lethal.
  3. Shooting 55 from the field, and 47 percent from three will help you win ball games, unless the other team shoots better, and takes care of the basketball better.
  4. Nice performances from Harrison Barnes and Andre Iguodala.  Who do you want starting? Who do you want coming off the bench?

Los Angeles Lakers Thoughts

  1. Kobe committed 7 turnovers in this game.  Why did I point this out?  It proves that even a superstar can have a bad night taking care of the basketball.  See Lebron James the other night against the Knicks with 8 turnovers.
  2. Jordan Hill has surprised me these last two seasons. I'm not saying he's an all-star or a superstar, but I thought he was going to be a complete bust like Kwame Brown.  Glad Jordan Hill isn't.  Good shooting night from him at 71 percent.  A much better coach in Bryon Scott in spite they are 0-4.
  3. The Lakers have got to find a way to win games, or they will be in the lottery with more than likely a top 5 draft pick.  If they are past 5 the pick goes to the Phoenix Suns from the Steve Nash trade.
  4. Injuries have killed this team, Steve Nash and now Julius Randle. My heart goes out to both Nash and Randle.
  5. Ed Davis was a nice pickup for the Lakers. Good night with 13 points and 6 boards.  Hope he can continue being a solid role player.

Warriors VS Clippers: Best Series in the Western Conference: Warriors take game 1 at Staples Center

In my opinion the Golden State Warriors vs Los Angeles Clippers will be the best series in the 2014 Western Conference NBA Playoffs. This series is so good that I believe it will go to seven games. On Saturday the Golden State Warriors edged out the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center 109-105. Shooting guard Klay Thompson lead the way for the Warriors with 22 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and shot 4 of 7 from three point land. Double-double power forward David Lee, scored 20 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists. All-star point guard Stephen Curry scored 14 points, 7 assists, 3 steals and 3 rebounds. Harrison Barnes scored 14 points and 8 rebounds off the bench. Jermaine O Neal added 13 points and 3 rebounds. Do you believe that coach Marc Jackson will get fired if the Warriors don't win this series? How impressed were you with the play of the Warriors? How did you feel about Blake Griffin being in foul trouble? Send me your comments.
For the Los Angeles Clippers, point guard Chris Paul lead the way for the Clippers with 28 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds and 4 steals. J.J. Redick scored 22 points on 4 of 5 shooting from three point land. Power forward Blake Griffin scored 16 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. Big man DeAndre Jordan added 11 points, 14 rebounds, 5 blocks and 2 steals. I think the problem for the Los Angeles Clippers is depth at the power forward and center position. Do you agree with me on that? What did you think of the moment when Blake Griffin accidently threw water on that Warriors fan? I admit a part of me laughed at it. Warriors and Clippers are both exciting and entertaining NBA teams. The Warriors take game 1 in Los Angeles. Game 2 is tonight on TNT at 10:30 Eastern, 9:30 Central Standard Time. Who will win game 2? Send me your comments on this. Thank you for reading Pro Basketball Hoops Land.

The Splash Brothers strike again by beating NBA worst team the Milwaukee Bucks

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are one of the best backcourt duos in the NBA, if not the best. Last night the splash brothers were at it again. The Golden State Warriors defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 115-110. Stephen Curry lead the way with 31 points, 11 assists, shot 3 of 5 from the three point line, and a perfect 10 of 10 from the free throw line. Klay Thompson scored 29 points and 2 rebounds. David Lee achieved double-double status. Power forward David Lee scored 22 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists. The win improves Golden State's record to 44-26. What did you think of this game from the splash brothers? I encourage you to send me your comments. For the Milwaukee Bucks, point guard Brandon Knight lead the way with 27 points and 6 assists. Ramon Sessions scored 18 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Power forward John Henson added 13 points and 6 rebounds in 22 minutes. Will the Milwaukee Bucks improve next season? I want to hear from you. Send me your comments. For those of you who love shooting guard Klay Thompson here are some products below you can purchase. Thank you for reading Pro Basketball Hoops Land. The Splash Brothers lead Warriors to win over Blazers

I think the backcourt of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson is one of the best backcourt duos in the NBA, if not the best. You have to be able to defend both of these players well or your defense will get crushed. Last night the Golden State Warriors defeated the Portland Trailblazers 113-112. Stephen Curry lead the way with 37 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds and shot 6 of 12 from three point land. Klay Thompson scored 27 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks. David Lee added 16 points, 3 rebounds and had 8 of 15 shooting. The Warriors are an exciting team to watch. The splash brothers are incredible. What did you think of this game for the Warriors? Do you have them as one of the teams who will go to the 2014 NBA Finals? For the Portland Trailblazers, All-Star Damian Lillard lead the way with 26 points and 7 assists. Nicolas Batum achieved double-double status. Batum scored 23 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. Robin Lopez also achieved a double-double. Robin Lopez scored 14 points, 10 rebounds and had 4 assists. What can Portland do to turn things around? Will the Blazers be in the 2014 NBA Finals? Send me your thoughts on this. Warriors win 5th straight game behind Jordan Crawford 19 points and Andrew Bogut's double-double

I like the Golden State Warriors. They are a fun team to watch on TV. I love the backcourt duo of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. I also like the additions this season of Andre Iguodala through Free Agency, Jordan Crawford and Steve Blake through trades. Last night the Golden State Warriors defeated the Dallas Mavericks 108-85. The win lead the Warriors to their 5th straight victory. Jordan Crawford lead the way for the Warriors with 19 points on 8 of 12 shooting and 3 of 6 from downtown. Andrew Bogut achieved a double-double. Bogut scored 15 points, 10 rebounds and shot 7 of 9 from the field. Klay Thompson scored 14 points and 3 rebounds. Harrison Barnes added 13 points in almost 20 minutes off the bench. I think Mark Jackson is a great coach for the Warriors. David Lee leads The Warriors to win with double-double: Klay Thompson shines again as Warriors win over Celtics

The Golden State Warriors are one of the most exciting teams in the Western Conference to watch. I love the backcourt duo of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. I love the other pieces in David Lee, Andrew Bogut, Andre Igoudala, Harrison Barnes, Jermaine O Neal, Steve Blake, Jordan Crawford, Draymond Green and Festus Ezeli. I did think the Warriors would be better than they are performing. They are bouncing back though. Last night the Golden State defeated the Boston Celtics 108-88. David Lee and Klay Thompson lead the way with 18 points. Lee scored a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and shot 9 of 17. Klay Thompson scored 18 points, 3 assists, 3 steals and shot 7 of 15. Jordan Crawford scored 15 points off the bench. 2014 All-Star point guard , Stephen Curry scored 14 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds and shot 6 of 10 from the field. Andre Iguodala added 11 points and 4 rebounds. Will the Golden State Warriors make the playoffs? Who would you like to see them play in the playoffs? Do the Warriors have enough to go to the 2014 NBA Finals? If not what are they missing? For the Boston Celtics Kelly Olynyk lead the way with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, shooting 6 of 12 from the field and 3 of 6 from downtown. Pass-first point guard Rajon Rondo scored 14 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Brandon Bass scored 11 points, 8 rebounds and shot 4 of 5 from the field. Jared Sullinger added 11 points and 4 rebounds in 25 minutes off the bench. Who do you think the Boston Celtics should draft in the 2014 NBA Draft? I think they should go for Jabari Parker or Andrew Wiggins. Do you agree? Why or why not? Send me your thoughts. Thank you for reading Pro Basketball Hoops Land. If you love the Golden State Warriors I encourage you to visit the Stephen Curry store on this blog.

Iguodala Buzzer Beater leads Warriors to win over the Thunder.

I admit last night I watched the Houston Rockets versus the New York Knicks game on ESPN. I wish I stayed up long enough to watch the second game though. With 2.3 seconds left Russell Westbrook hit a shot that was possibly the potential to be the game winner or so everybody might have thought. In the final closing seconds though Klay Thompson inbounded the ball to Andre Iguodala. Iguodala then threw up the shot and in the hoop it went. With that buzzer beater it Iggy's buzzer beater helped the Golden State Warriors defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder 116-115. Klay Thompson lead the Warriors in scoring with 27 points. Thompson also had 5 rebounds and 3 blocks. Klay shot 10 of 15 from the field, and 6 of 9 from three point range. Warriors were knocking threes, and they hit 14 of them in the game. Davidson point guard all star Stephen Curry added 22 points, 9 assists and 5 rebounds. Curry hit four of eight from downtown. David Lee scored 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Harrison Barnes added 16 points off the bench. Game winner Andre Iguodala scored 14 points and 9 assists. Iggy shot 5 of 6 from the field, and a perfect 2 of 2 from three point range. For the Oklahoma City Thunder who came close, Westbrook lead with 31 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Serge Ibaka had an offensive explosion and had a double double. Ibaka or I like to refer to him as Iblocka, had 27 points, 13 rebounds and 3 blocks. Kevin Durant added 20 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds, and shot 5 of 13 from the field. Reggie Jackson added 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists off the bench. This game was wild and crazy. I enjoyed this morning when I woke up and saw the highlights. Warriors lights up the Raptors like a Christmas Tree with a win

There definity was a lot of scoring on Friday Night in Oracle Arena in Oakland California. As a matter of fact between the Warriors and the Raptors there was a total of 238 scored. The Golden State Warriors lit up the Toronto Raptors like a Christmas Tree with a 138-100 victory. For the Warriors four players scored over 20 plus points a piece. Monta Ellis led the way with 27 points and had 10 assists. Dorell Wright added 26 points, Stephen Curry added 23 points and hit 4 shots from downtown, and David Lee added 21 points. For the Raptors DeMar DeRozan and Leandro Barbosa scored 19 points a piece in the loss, Rookie Ed Davis added 18 points and James Johnson who came over from the Bulls in a trade added 14 points. The win for the Warriors improves there record to 31-42 while the loss for the Raptors drops there record to 20-52. To even have a chance at the playoffs the Golden State Warriors need to keep winning and pray that the Memphis Grizzlies lose the rest of there games. I say that because if Memphis wins one more game the Warriors are out of playoff contention for this season.
