Clippers Big Men Double-Double leads to win over Pacers

Last night the Indiana Pacers took on the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center in Los Angeles California.  The Clippers big men which consists of 6 foot 10 box office power forward Blake Griffin, and 6 foot 11 athletic defensive center DeAndre Jordan, achieved double-double stature by edging out the Indiana Pacers 102-100. This game stayed close the whole way where the biggest lead of the game was by the Clippers who had a 9 point lead at 25-16.  Blake Griffin scored 31 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to lead the way for the Clippers, top NBA point guard who was a stat stuffer in this game scored 20 points and 9 assists, Two guard and three point specialist J.J. Redick scored 16 points , and big man DeAndre Jordan added 15 points and 23 rebounds.  39 rebounds between the two big men of the game, leads me to say that I'm disgusted with the performance of the Indiana Pacers.  DeAndre Jordan has to get better at his free throws as he shot 7 of 15 from the line.  Here are the stats for each team

At 18-7, the Los Angeles Clippers are 5th in the Western Conference, and they trail the top seeded Pacific Division Western Conference Team by 3 1/2 games out of the top spot in the Western Conference.  Chris Paul to me played impressive and being a staff stuffer by having at least 5 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds and 5 steals,  (he finished with 20 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds and 5 assists on 50 percent shooting.  I feel that Chris Paul is the best point guard in the NBA.  So Clippers fans what did you think about this win? Clippers keep chopping away by winning 9th straight defeating the Pacers: Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan have a double-double

9 games ago the Clippers were 7-5.  It made me wonder what could possibly happen to their season.  In games and in seasons, it's sometimes not how you start that matters but how you finish. The Clippers have caught fire. Last night the Clippers won their 9th straight game by beating the Indiana Pacers 103-96. Jamal Crawford lead the way with 18 points.  Three players had double figures for the Clippers, Chris Paul with 17 points and 15 assists, Blake Griffin with 17 points and 10 rebounds, and DeAndre Jordan with 12 points and 19 rebounds.  Here are the top 5 scorers and statistical categories for each team.

I like the moves the Clippers made during the off-season by adding Spencer Hawes, Ekpe Udoh to add to their front line.  It's possible the Clippers could make it to the NBA Finals, but they have to get past some tough Western Conference Teams ( Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs, Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, are the ones that come to my mind at this current time.   In honor of the 9 game winning streak I am going to give a list of the last 9 victories by the Clippers and who they defeated.

Incredible Sixth man Jamal Crawford scores 25, top 5 NBA point guard Chris Paul adds 23 to lead Clippers to win over Pistons

Entering into this game with an 8-5 record, I really thought the Clippers were going to be better than that. They added Spencer Hawes and Ekpe Udoh to add to their front court depth. I like Hawes in the fact that he could come into the game late and knock down free throws, but on defense he's not as good as DeAndre Jordan. I don't understand why we didn't bring back point guard Darren Collison. In his place we added Jordan Farmar who is okay, but not as good defensively as Collison.


Last night the L.A. Clippers found a way to win by beating the struggling Detroit Pistons 104-98.  Sixth man of the year candidate Jamal Crawford lead the way for the Clips with 25 points and 4 assists. Pass-First NBA point guard Chris Paul added 23 points and 7 assists.   Here are the stats for each team.

At 9-5 the Clippers are sitting in the 7th seed in the tough Western Conference. If playoffs were today, they would be playing there rival the Golden State Warriors.   I feel that the Clippers need an upgrade defensively at the small forward position.  I think they should try and go for Corey Brewer of the Minnesota Timberwolves if they can get him.  The Clippers are currently 9th in scoring in the NBA at 103.3 points per game, but are 12 th in giving up 100.3 points per game. Good flowing offensive and 31 assists helps the Clippers win in Miami over the Heat

Tonight on TNT the first game was between the L.A. Clippers and the Miami Heat, the second game they've played in Florida after playing in Orlando the other night.   Good unselfish play and coach Doc Rivers preaching trust your teammates helped.  The Clippers had 31 assists in this game and 12 of them were by the assist maestro Chris Paul.  The Clippers defeated the Miami Heat in American Airlines Arena 110-93 to improve their record to 7-4 while Miami Heat falls to 6-6.  I was impressed with what I got to see in this game.  I wished I could have watched the whole thing, but I didn't get to it in time.  Lob City was in effect on many plays, for the Miami Heat don't have many answers at the rim. Miami Heat to me just didn't move the ball the way the Clippers did.  The Heat only had 11 assists in this game.   The Clippers shot 55 percent for the game, while the Miami Heat only shot 44 percent from the field.   To me the L.A. Clippers were reminded me of 2014 NBA Finals Champs San Antonio Spurs.  4 of the 5 starters scored in double figures, and the fifth starter scored at least 9 points.  Here are the stats for each team.

Clippers improve to 6-4 with win over Orlando Magic

The L.A. Clippers aren't off to the greatest start of the season, but it's still early.  Coming into this game 5-4, the Clippers found a way to not give up 100 points and to score over 100 this game.  Having 9 blocks and forcing the Magic to commit 13 turnovers, helped the Los Angeles Clippers defeat the Orlando Magic 114-90.  Jamal Crawford lead the way for the Clips with 22 points, Blake Griffin added 20 points. L.A. Clippers Thoughts

1. Blake Griffin is currently averaging 22.8 points per game, and is 8th place in scoring behind Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Anthony Davis, Stephen Curry, Carmelo Anthony, James Harden and Klay Thompson.  I think Blake Griffin's numbers will go up and he will end up in top 5 before the season is done.
2. Matt Barnes played solid tonight.  If we can get more out of him like this, the Clippers will be fine.
3. I don't know who to give up to get Wilson Chandler or Corey Brewer, but I think the Clippers should try and add at least one of those guys to the roster somehow. 
4. To give up only 90 points, that is much better defense.  The Clippers are good at scoring but struggle at defense.   
5. The Clippers shot 53 percent from the field, 57 percent from three, and 75 percent from the line.
6. The Clippers only had 7 turnovers for the game. That is good.  If this team can average that or less per game, I can see this team winning a lot of games.
7. I want to see Chris Paul win an NBA Title before his career his over.  

Orlando Magic Thoughts

1. I think the Orlando Magic can win 35 games with the team they have, if they remain healthy. 
2. Go ahead and give Tobias Harris an extension please Orlando.  He's one of your best scorers on the team. You can't win with only defense
3. Victor Oladipo had a terrible shooting night, 3 of 13 is awful. He will get better though. He's only on his second year in the league.

Final Thoughts

When you only turn the ball over 7 times to Orlando Magic having 13 turnovers, it will help you win games. Taking care of the basketball is one of the biggest keys to winning a game.  What are your thoughts on this win for the L.A. Good shooting and great game by best NBA point guard Chris Paul leads Clippers to win over Suns

I personally feel that Chris Paul is the best point guard in the NBA. I will give Tony Parker a close second.   Chris Paul gets his teammates involved, and can score if necessary.  Last night Chris Paul and the Clippers had a great shooting night, by beating the Phoenix Suns 120-107.  Chris Paul lead the way for the Clippers with 32 points. L.A. Clippers Thoughts

1. The Clippers must upgrade at the small forward position or shooting guard. I would like to see a defender or two at those positions for this team.  I would be okay with the Clippers picking up Metta World Peace for cheap.
2. The Clippers this game I'm surprised won considering they turned the ball over ten more times than the Suns.  20 turnovers to the Suns 10.
3. The Clippers out rebounded the Suns 43-27 on the defensive glass.  
4. In spite the Clippers gave up 107 points, the two centers DeAndre Jordan and Spencer Hawes had 10 blocks between the two.  That is some inside low post defensive presence.  

Phoenix Suns Thoughts

1. At 5-5, I don't feel playing .500 ball will get you into the playoffs in the Western Conference. If the Suns were in the Eastern Conference they would be anywhere between a 4-8 seed. 
2. Nice to see Alex Len put up solid numbers in this game.  17 points and 11 rebounds.
3. With the overload of guards on this team, I think you must trade one of them for a power forward.

Final Thoughts

At 5-3 I think the Clippers are in good shape.  I wouldn't worry. You will be in the postseason.  I'd like to see you in the NBA Finals.  Another good defender at small forward or shooting guard would get it done.  I want to see the Clippers be more aggressive on defense.  Thank you for reading Pro Basketball Hoops Land. The Los Angeles Clippers and the Portland Trailblazers both came into this contest with a record of 3-2. Whoever won this game would be two games above .500, while the losing team would fall to .500. L.A. Clippers Thoughts

1. I was impressed with the incredible performance from J.J. Redick.  Shooting over 80 percent from the field, and scoring 30 points will help your team win.
2. While Blake Griffin had a bad shooting night, he has improved from the free throw line,  hitting 7 of 8.  I love how Blake has improved his game the last season or two
3. Jamal Crawford to me is the best 6th man in the NBA.  Crawford can score and shoot lights out.  
4. Chris Paul put on a show with his double-double 22 points and 11 assists. CP3 should be in the MVP discussion.  To me Chris Paul is the best point guard in the NBA.
5.  At 4-2, I feel the Clippers will still finish 2nd in the Western Conference.  There are 76 more games for the Clippers.  
6. I want to see this team in the NBA Finals this year against the Chicago Bulls.

Portland Trailblazers Thoughts

1. This team was a surprise team last year in the NBA.  At 3-3 this team to me is fine and will make the playoffs.
2. Damian Lillard is to me the best point guard to play for the Blazers since Damon Stoudemire was on this team. 
3. Nicolas Batum wasn't too far away from a triple double, good performance from Batum
4. Still would like to see this bench get better.  The starters on this team are to me good to great

Final Thoughts

Clippers win over Durantless Thunder: Now Westbrook is injured

Last night the Los Angeles Clippers took on the Oklahoma City Thunder.  First Kevin Durant is out,  now last night in the 2nd quarter, all star point guard Russell Westbrook suffered a small fracture in his right hand.  Westbrook didn't return for the rest of the game. From what I've heard he is more than likely to be out 4-8 weeks.  This helped the Clippers even more, as they defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 93-90.  Here are the stats for each team

My Los Angeles Clippers Thoughts

1. This game was close all the way through. The Clippers never lead by more than 10.  To me a win is a win.  
2. Blake Griffin is off to a good start proving he is a top 5 MVP candidate.
3. I feel the Clippers will win 60 games this season. 
4. I feel that tonight when they play the Lakers, the Clippers are going to beat them by at least 15. 
5. Chris Paul is also off to a good start.  Shooting 50 percent from the field.
6. Spencer Hawes only scored 4 points in his Clippers season debut.  He will get better.  I'm glad he's here especially in the last 3-4 minutes when DeAndre Jordan needs to go out because of his bad free throw shooting

My Oklahoma City Thunder Thoughts

1. Now with Russell Westbrook out, Serge Ibaka has to be the man.  I can't see how this is going to work.  OKC relies too much on Durant and Westbrook.  Until they come back I sense trouble for OKC Thunder. 
2. Perry Jones stepped up big time with 32 points and 10 of 17 shooting. I've wanted to see Perry Jones in more even when Durant was healthy.  
3. I personally don't understand the signing of Sebastian Telfair.  I loved that Telfair had 7 assists, but he shot a horrible 2 of 9 from the field. 
4. Russell Westbrook only scored 2 points and 4 assists on 1 of 3 shooting, in 8 minutes and 43 seconds of playing time.  This team could be in for a long season without KD and Westbrook

30 Days 30 Grades: Day 13 Western Conference NBA Team L.A. Clippers off-season grade

Welcome to day 13 of my 30 blog series titled "30 Days 30 Grades".  Today I am going to be talking about one of the NBA teams that is based in Los Angeles.  The team I am going to talk about is the Pacific Division Los Angeles Clippers.   Here are the four things I'm going to do , 1)  I'm going to give my Clippers off-season grade, 2) I'm going to give a list of players added whether it be through the draft, free agency or a trade.  3)  I'm going to talk about the players that are subtracted from the team whether it be to another team in free agency, traded away or waived, and finally 4)  I will explain why I gave the Clippers the grade I gave them.  Please understand that I write all my articles from the prospective of an NBA fan.  I welcome your opinion.

Doc Rivers get a five year 50 million dollar extension with the L.A. Clippers

Doc Rivers is one of the best coaches in the NBA to me.  Rivers is my favorite coach.  Yesterday it was noted that new Clippers owner Steve Ballmer signed coach Doc Rivers to a five year 50 million extension.  The Clippers are one of my favorite teams in the NBA, and as a fan who enjoys them,  I love this.  I love the moves they made in the off-season especially adding Spencer Hawes to give this team some more depth at the power forward and the center position. Rivers was great when he was on the Celtics.  5 years for coach Doc Rivers to try and get the Clippers a title.  I believe that he will help the Clippers win at least 1, I'll go even bolder and say that the Clippers will win 2 titles in the next 5 years.  What do you think about this extension that Doc Rivers got?  Would you have given him one?  Do you think he is the best coach in the NBA?   Send me your comments on this and thank you for reading Pro Basketball Hoops Land. The Donald Sterling Chronicles Part 2

It is now been voted that Donald Sterling is the most hated man in America. I couldn't agree more.  This man has done nothing but try to damage the NBA with his racist remarks.  Donald Sterling Clippers owner since 1981, to me hasn't done much for this team. The best winning seasons have happened since Blake Griffin was drafted, Chris Paul was acquired in a trade, and DeAndre Jordan has played as a shot blocking, rebounding stud.   Their is word now that Ex-Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is willing to pay 2 billion dollars for the Clippers.  I don't know Steve Ballmer's character, but at this point as long as Ballmer isn't a racist douchebag like Donald Sterling, I welcome this with open arms.  On June 3rd their will be a vote to see how many of the 29 owners will vote Donald Sterling to be out of the league.  I want it on record if any owner vote yes.   For some reason though I get the feeling that Donald Sterling just won't go away without a fight.   The team should be sold. I want the Sterling to leave the NBA, and to never come to an NBA again.  I think the best punishment would be the team gets sold, and  the Sterlings don't get a dime of it from the sale, instead the money goes to the Clippers players, coaches (and I'd even have no problem with all the money going back to the NBA).   If the punishment is the team is sold, and the Sterlings have to take their billions and get out of the league,  then I'm ok with that. If Donald Sterling is owner next year, it will destroy the NBA.  Lebron was saying he won't play, and I can almost bet that the Clippers players won't either.   Send me your comments and thoughts on this whole matter. The Donald Sterling Chronicles: My thoughts on it

Let's talk about Donald Sterling. He has been on the news. I haven't had the chance to express my views on it. Now they are saying he had dementia. I'm not trying to be insensitive to those who have it, I just think that Sterling is using dementia as a copout to act however he wants. He comes down on Magic Johnson for having H.I.V. and saying he's a bad example for children. I think that Donald Sterling needs to take a hard look in the mirror. I don't like his racist thoughts. I'm all for forgiving someone if I believe they have good intentions, I don't believe that Mr. Sterling does. Donald you make me sick Sterling should not be owner of the Clippers anymore.
