30 Days 30 Grades: Day 30: Washington Wizards off-season grade

Welcome to the final day of my 30 day blog series titled "30 Days 30 Grades".  Today I am going to talk about rising Eastern Conference NBA Team the Washington Wizards and their off-season.  Here are the four things I'm going to do in this post  1) Give my off-season grade,  2) Give a list of Wizards players who were added to the roster whether it be through free-agency, trades, draft or claimed off of waivers.  3) Give a list of subtracted Wizards players from the roster and finally 4) Give the reason or reasons why I give the Wizards the off-season grade that I give them.

Washington Wizards off-season grade:  A-

Washington Wizards Players Added:  Paul Pierce, Melvin Ely, DeJuan Blair, Kris Humphries,

Washington Wizards Players Subtracted:  Trevor Booker, Trevor Ariza, Emir Preldzic

Why did I give the Washington Wizards a report card grade of A Minus?  I liked that they brought back Marcin Gortat. Gortat is an underrated center.  I admit I didn't like the loss of Trevor Ariza going to the Houston Rockets, but they picked up a great veteran presence in Paul Pierce.  Pierce last year though struggled for the Nets. He played the lowest minutes of his career at 28 minutes per game.  Small forward Paul Pierce averaged 13.5 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game, 2.4 assists per game, 1.1 steals per game, 45% Field Goal Shooting, 37 % from three, and 82 % from free throw line.  They added Kris Humphries who can play power forward or the center position.  I thought he put up solid numbers in 19 minutes a game for the Boston Celtics last year.  Humphries scored 7.6 points per game, 5.7 rebounds per game, and shot 50 percent from the field.  Humphries can come in off the bench and contribute.  DeJuan Blair another quality signing.  Blair averaged 6.4 points per game, 4.7 rebounds per game, on 53 percent field goal shooting at 15.6 minutes per game.  So the Wizards adding some depth at the center and power forward positions, which is good if players get into foul trouble. What do you think about the off-season of the Washington Wizards?  Do you agree with my grade of A-?  Was I too low, too high or just right? Send me your comments.
