Spurs win 8th straight sending the Sixers to an 0-17 start

I love the way the San Antonio Spurs play basketball. They play it unselfishly which is the right way to play the game. When guys try to get their own stats all the time, it affects the team chemistry and doesn't always lead to wins. I think that more teams should pattern there play after the Spurs. The San Antonio Spurs win their 8th straight game by beating the Philadelphia 76ers 109-103, to send the Sixers to an 0-17 start. The Spurs were up at one point by 24 leading over the Sixers 59-35. The Sixers looked like they were going to make a comeback, but they just couldn't get the job done. The Spurs held on for the win. Kwahi Leonard shined without Tim Duncan and Tony Parker in the lineup, by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds. Aron Baynes added 15 points and 9 rebounds. Here are the stats for each team.

Tim Duncan achieves a double-double: Spurs get it done over Lebron and the Cavs 92-90

I've heard many people over the years say the San Antonio Spurs are the most boring team in basketball to watch. I personally disagree with them, because they have such a great coach in Gregg Popovich, plus they play the right way unselfishly. If anything other teams should be looking to the Spurs as an example of how to play basketball. Last night on ESPN the San Antonio Spurs took on the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Spurs defeated the Cavs 92-90 behind Tim Duncan double-double 19 points and 10 rebounds. Here are the stats for each team.

San Antonio Spurs Thoughts

The Spurs improved to 7-4 with this win. I think the Southeast Division in the Western Conference is the toughest division. I believe that all five teams could make the playoffs.
Kwahi Leonard is the best Lebron James defender I've ever had the opportunity to watch on TV. If you know of any other really good Lebron James defenders send me a comment.
The Spurs out rebounded the Cavs 42-38 on the boards.
15 turnovers is too many turnovers in a game, fortunately the Cavs had 16.
Impressed by the play of Boris Diaw also scoring 19 points. Diaw had some interesting stats and a very underrated NBA player.
Nice performance from Cory Joseph last night. Joseph to me is another solid backup behind Tony Parker. I'm still for Patty Mills being the first option behind Parker though

Cleveland Cavaliers Thoughts

Should Cavs fans be worried at 5-5? I think not. They will be better than the 33-49 record posted last year.
The Cavs I predict will go on a 10 game winning streak sometime this year.
Lebron James hasn't been shooting well since he dropped that weight over the summer. He was much better player last year. I think though with having Wade and Bosh on your side it was easier to dominate.
Maybe the Cavs should have given the ball to Anderson Varejao more since he was the only player shooting above 50 percent for the game.

Final Thoughts

The Spurs shot 47 percent, while the Cavs shot 44. I feel the Spurs will be back in the NBA Finals this season. I'm still up in the air about who in the Eastern Conference will be joining them. The Battle of two NBA Texas Teams: Spurs edge out Mavs 101-100.

Welcome to the start of the 2014-2015 NBA Season. Tonight the first game on TNT was between the Dallas Mavericks and the San Antonio Spurs. We seen some solid defense from Dallas, and some great ball movement just like the 2014 NBA Finals from the Spurs. The battle of two NBA Texas Teams the Spurs and the Mavericks. San Antonio Spurs Thoughts

Marco Belinelli was great in place of Kwahi Leonard who is out with a right eye infection. Belinelli proves to me why I still think the Chicago Bulls were crazy to not resign him last season. His 15 points, and 3 three point shots were huge.
Tony Parker shot 60 percent from the field, and 100 percent from three. What a way to start for Tony Parker who is a top 10 point guard in the NBA. My only complaint is he only had 3 assists, but still a great game with 23 points.
I've heard from Charles Barkley that father time has caught up with this team. To me this team still plays like they are in their prime to me.
I love the way this team plays unselfishly and moves the basketball. They pass up a good shot for a great shot. More teams need to run their system like the Spurs.
Tim Duncan is still playing at a high level. Duncan getting 14 points and 13 rebounds. He's the reason I start watching the Spurs and coach Gregg Popovich.

Dallas Mavericks Thoughts

Monta Ellis is an underrated shooting guard in the NBA. His stats tonight were impressive to me. His 26 points were helpful in spite the Mavs lost.
Devin Harris scoring 17 points off the bench. I don't know if I'll see all star Devin Harris again like in 2009 with the New Jersey Nets, but I liked what i saw from him.
Dirk Nowitzki still showing he's got game with his 7 of 11 shooting from the field.
I was disappointed with Chandler Parsons who only scored 5 points on 2 of 10 shooting. I hope Parsons will step up next game and I feel he will.
Tyson Chandler having 10 boards. It's nice to see him back in Dallas again. They should have kept him and I feel they would have won another title. So hopefully this time will be just as good as the last. Chandler brings that rim protection that I feel they so desperately need.

30 Days 30 Grades: Day 27 San Antonio Spurs Off-Season Grade

Welcome to day 27 of my 30 day blog series titled "30 Days 30 Grades". Today I am going to talk about 2014 NBA Champions San Antonio Spurs, and their off-season. Here are the four things I"m going to do in this blog, 1) Give my off-season grade, 2) Give a list of Spurs players added to the roster whether it be through the draft, free agency, trade, claimed off of waivers etc, 3) Give a list of players subtracted from the Spurs roster, and finally 4) Give the reason or reasons why I gave the Spurs the off-season grade I gave them.

Kawhi Leonard Wins Finals MVP: Spurs win their 5th title since 1999

Congratulations to the San Antonio Spurs on winning the 2014 NBA Finals in 5 games over the Miami Heat. The San Antonio Spurs are a high class organization. I admire the Spurs because they play selfless basketball. More people should watch videos on how they play and implement their team around them. Kawhi Leonard last night in San Antonio at the A T &T Center won the NBA Finals MVP Award. He is the third youngest player to accomplish this. The other two players are Magic Johnson, and San Antonio Spurs teammate and one of the greatest power forwards in NBA history Tim Duncan. Leonard averaged 61 percent shooting from the field in the 2014 NBA Finals. In the last three games Kawhi Leonard averaged 23.7 points per game and 9.3 rebounds per game. During the regular season Leonard shot 52.2 percent from the field and almost 38 percent from three point land. I loved the defense they played on Lebron James. If Lebron blew by Leonard then Tim Duncan or Tiago Splitter were waiting at the rim. The Miami Heat at one point lead 22-6. I respect how hard the Spurs fought back, and the dunk Manu Ginobili had on Chris Bosh. Later you will see highlights below, and note I don't own the video, I just wanted to share these highlights for all my readers. Tim Duncan has now won 5 NBA Titles, and is tied with Los Angeles Lakers superstar shooting guard Kobe Bryant. If Duncan wins next year he will be tied with Michael Jordan for having 6 rings. Tim Duncan has to be considered one of the greatest NBA power forwards of all time. The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Miami Heat 104-87 to win the season series 4 games to 1. 2014 NBA Finals Game 4: The Spurs take a 3-1 series lead behind Kwahi Leonard double-double

How many of you watch game 4 of the 2014 NBA Finals last night on ABC? What did you see? I seen one team come out hungry wanting game 4 as much as they did game 3, the other team looked fatigued. The team I'm talking about that was hungry was the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs put on another offensive clinic in Miami last night by shooting 57 percent. The Spurs out rebounded the Miami Heat 44-27. The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Miami Heat 107-86 to take a 3-1 series lead in these 2014 NBA Finals. For the first time since the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals, the Miami Heat lost back to back post season games. The San Antonio Spurs are showing America how basketball is to be played. Basketball is a team sport, and a we sport not a me sport. The Spurs are a high class organization who play unselfish, and knows how to move the basketball. They have three big men who know how to pass the ball well. The three big men I'm talking about are Tim Duncan, Boris Diaw and Tiago Splitter. When you have big men who pass the ball like they do, it's hard to stop them. Take a look at the top scorers for each team.

The Miami Heat are going to have to give their A game for the next three games or it will be over for them. You have got to crash the boards better if you Miami. Miami is a terrible rebounding team. I think you've got to inject Udonis Haslem into the starting lineup for game 5. You have to try something different in the starting lineup. Another idea is try Toney Douglas as the starter. I think the starting five for Miami to shake things up should be Chris Bosh, Udonis Haslem, Lebron James, Dwyane Wade and Toney Douglas. At this point you have to try something else, because what you've done the last two games hasn't work. As for the San Antonio Spurs, having Kwahi Leonard attack the basket is genius. At 22 years old small forward Kwahi Leonard is defending Lebron the best I've ever seen. I think Leonard is the best defender against Lebron. What are your thoughts on this game? Kwahi Leonard scores 29: Incredible first half shooting leads Spurs to take a 2-1 series lead over Heat

Did anyone else besides me watch game 3 of the NBA Finals last night on ABC? I was impressed with what I was seeing. San Antonio Spurs were putting on a shooting clinic like I've never seen before. At one point they were 18 of 20 (or 90 %) from the field. The San Antonio Spurs got off to a hot start and never looked back. Miami cut the lead to 7 at one point in the game. Shooting guard Marco Belinelli hit a huge three. After Belinelli hit that three the Spurs fired back up again. Starting Boris Diaw was an excellent move by San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich , because it created floor spacing and another incredible passer on the court. The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Miami Heat 111-92 to take a 2-1 series lead. The Spurs shot 86 percent in the first quarter, and shot an NBA Finals record 76 percent in the first half. For the game the Spurs shot 59 percent. Kwahi Leonard was a huge factor in this game along with Daniel Green. Listed below are the stats of the top 5 scorers for each team.

San Antonio Spurs win game 1: Electrical Problems and Lebron James cramping

How many of you watched game 1 of the NBA Finals last night? I know I did. I enjoyed it for the most part. Many people say "oh the San Antonio Spurs are a boring team". I believe they are not. The Spurs are a high class organization with high class characters. To start the game their were electrical problems at the A T&T Center in San Antonio. The San Antonio Spurs fans were blowing fans on themselves to cool off. The air conditioning unit went out. With over 4 minutes left in the game, Lebron James came out of the game with cramps. When you get to a point you almost can't walk you have to come out of the game. Please understand that I'm not riding Lebron's privates or anything, I hated that this happened to him. I like to see good competitive competition on the court. The San Antonio Spurs and the Miami Heat were playing close all the way through the game. To end the game though the Spurs went on a 31-9 run to end the game. The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Miami Heat 110-95 to take game 1 at home in the A T &T Center. Spurs are going to the NBA Finals again by beating the Thunder in overtime

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich made great adjustments by bringing in Matt Bonner and Boris Diaw more. What I don't understand is why Oklahoma City Thunder coach Scott Brooks didn't use Caron Butler more in the game. Butler could provide some scoring off the bench. I think you left at least Westbrook or Durant on the court down the stretch. When Durant goes out bring in Caron Butler. I believe that not using Caron Butler was one of the factors that cost the Thunder the opportunity to go to a game 7. The San Antonio Spurs are going back to the NBA Finals again for a rematch against the Miami Heat. The San Antonio Spurs won game 6 in overtime in Oklahoma City 112-107. Spurs take game 5 at home blowing out the Thunder: Coach Pop makes a great lineup adjustment

What did you think of game 5 last night between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs? I thought that what Spurs coach Gregg Popovich did was genius inserting Matt Bonner into the starting lineup. By putting Bonner into the game it spaces the floor, and makes Serge Ibaka or Kendrick Perkins have to go out to the three point line. After Bonner wasn't successful, bringing into Boris Diaw as an anchor off the bench was incredibly smart. I think for game 6 coach Pop should stick with this strategy. The San Antonio Spurs are playing incredible basketball this season. I think after the finals between the Spurs and the Heat. The Spurs want revenge. The Spurs won their 17th straight game in a row, improving their record to 57-16. Last night in a lineup that had no Tim Duncan and no Manu Ginobili, you would think this could be the Pacific Division Golden State Warriors shot at stopping the San Antonio Spurs winning streak. The San Antonio Spurs know how to play ball without all their all stars. The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Golden State Warriors 99-90. The win for the Spurs game them their 13th straight which is the highest this season in the NBA. Point guard and all star, Tony Parker lead the way for the Spurs with 20 points, 5 assists and 8 of 16 shooting. Daniel Green scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and shot 5 of 9 from three point range. Center Tiago Splitter achieved double-double stature. Splitter scored 17 points, 14 rebounds and 3 assists. Small forward and incredible defender scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. Spurs win 7th straight game by beating the Bulls: Ginobili scored 22, Parker adds 20

The San Antonio Spurs are one of the most exciting and best team in the Western Conference. They have a great coach in Gregg Popovich. Most players who weren't good somehow become good fitting into the Spurs system. (Daniel Green and Patty Mills) are two players I think of here. The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Chicago Bulls 104-96 to win their 7th straight game. Manu Ginobili lead the way with 22 points, shot 9 of 11 from the field and 4 of 5 from three point land. Tony Parker scored 20 points and 9 assists. Kawhi Leonard added 16 points and 9 rebounds. Will the San Antonio Spurs go back to the NBA Finals for the second year in a row? If not who will take their place? I love the Spurs because they are not about individual stats they are about playing team basketball. For the Chicago Bulls point guard D.J. Duncan achieves a double-double: The Spurs give Lebron troubles as they defeat the Heat

I know there are many people who say the San Antonio Spurs are a boring basketball team. How is a team boring when they play as a team compared to individual stats. Basketball is a team game. I think they are one of the most interesting teams to watch in the game. I love their coach. Popovich is a man of very few words during interviews. Last night the Miami Heat came into San Antonio hoping to win a game. The Spurs played incredible from beginning to end. Miami never one lead in the game. It was all Spurs. The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Miami Heat 111-87. The Spurs came out of the gate like someone who is starving and hasn't eaten in weeks. Tim Duncan lead the way for the Spurs by achieving a double-double. Duncan scored 23 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists and shot 9 of 13 from the field. Tony Parker scored 17 points, 4 assists and 2 steals. Boris Diaw scored 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Kawhi Leonard played incredible in the game. Leonard to me is the best defender against Lebron James. Leonard added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals. I think Leonard is an underrated small forward. Leonard reminds me of a young Bruce Bowen but with more scoring ability. Leonard's defense held Lebron to 33 percent shooting. For the Miami Heat, Chris Bosh lead the way with 24 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals and shot 10 of 16 from the field. Lebron James scored 19 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals and shot 6 of 18 from the field. The defense of the Spurs was giving Lebron nightmares. Dwyane Wade scored 16 points, 7 assists and 3 rebounds. Michael Beasley added 11 points, 6 rebounds, shot 5 of 10 from the field in almost 21 minutes off the bench. I think Tony Parker is one of the greatest point guards in the NBA. He is in a great system with Coach Greg Popovich. Yesterday against the Dallas Mavericks, Tony Parker scored 22 points, 7 assists, 3 rebounds and shot 10 of 15 from the field. The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Dallas Mavericks 112-106. Tim Duncan scored 17 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks. Kawhi Leonard scored 16 points, 7 rebounds, shot 6 of 9 from the field, and 3 of 5 from three point range. Manu Ginobili added 15 points, 7 assists and 4 rebounds off the bench. Boris Diaw added a double-double off the bench. Diaw scored 14 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists. The San Antonio Spurs improved to 43-16 with the win. How happy are you to see Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Kawhi Leonard back on the floor together? Manu Ginobili scores 28 to lead Spurs to win over Kings

Is Manu Ginobili an underrated shooting guard in the NBA? Last night he scored 28 points to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 112-104 victory over the Sacramento Kings. Ginobili shot 4 of 9 from three point range. Tony Parker scored 22 points and 7 assists. Power Forward Tim Duncan achieved double-double status. Duncan scored 17 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. Boris Diaw scored 14 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds in almost 25 minutes of action. The win improves the Spurs record to 24-7. For the Sacramento Kings DeMarcus Cousins scored 29 points, 14 rebounds and had 3 assists. Point guard and 60th pick Isaiah Thomas scored 27 points and 9 assists. Rudy Gay added 24 points and 9 rebounds. Will the San Antonio Spurs go back to the NBA Finals for 2014? Or is there someone in the Western Conference you believe could stop that from happening? Ginobili's shine off the bench leads Spurs to win over Raptors

Manu Ginobili didn't even play half of the game last night. Two guard Ginobili scored 16 points, 9 assists and 5 rebounds in 23 minutes of action. The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Toronto Raptors 116-103. Point Guard Tony Parker, scored 15 points and dished out six assists. Daniel Green scored 14 points, on five of seven shooting, and 2 of 4 from three point land. Tim Duncan added 14 points and seven rebounds. Aron Baynes scored 14 points, six rebounds, and shot 7 of 9 from the field, in almost 21 minutes of playing time. Since 2010, The San Antonio Spurs have won the last six meetings against the Toronto Raptors. The win improves the Spurs record to 16-4. For the Toronto Raptors, Amir Johnson and Demar DeRozan each scored 19. Johnson added nine rebounds. DeRozan added seven assists. Big Man, Jonas Valanciunas scored 14 points, four rebounds, and shot six of eight from the field. Athletic Dunker Terrence Ross, added 14 points, 4 rebounds and shot four of seven from three point land. What did you think of this game Spurs fans?
