Grizzlies win in triple overtime against the Spurs

After defeating the best record team in the Western Conference last night, tonight the Grizzlies get a win by beating 2014 NBA Champs San Antonio Spurs. It took three overtimes to get the job done, but the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the 117-116. In regulation Marc Gasol hit a game tying three in regulation, to send the game into overtime at 92-92. Zach Randolph entered the 20-20 club by scoring 21 and 21, or I want to refer to it as double blackjack. Vinsanity dominated off the bench again by scoring 18. Six Memphis Grizzlies players scored at least 14 points this game. The Six Memphis players who scored 14 plus points are Marc Gasol with 26, Zach Randolph with 21, Vince Carter with 18, Kosta Koufos with 16, and point guard Mike Conley with 14. The Grizzlies out shot the Spurs on the free throw line by 30 percent. If you want to win games San Antonio you can't shoot 48 percent from the free throw line. Here are the stats for each team

I am impressed with the play of the Western Conference pro basketball team Memphis Grizzlies the last two nights. The Grizzlies have the second best record in the Western Conference, and trail the best team in the Western Conference Golden State Warriors by half a game for the best record in the Western Conference. Grizzlies snap Warriors 16 game winning streak

The two best teams in the NBA came into this game battling each other. The Golden State Warriors entered with the best record in the NBA with a 21-2 record, while the second best NBA team the Memphis Grizzlies record was 19-4 and 11-1 at home. I just finished watching this game on ESPN. I enjoyed it. The Warriors started out to me like they were going to do good, but in the second quarter the Memphis Grizzlies bench took over the game. The Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Golden State Warriors 105-98, to snap the Warriors 16 game winning streak. Big man Marc Gasol lead the way for Memphis with 24 points and 7 rebounds. Power forward Zach Randolph added a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. The Grizzlies scored 40 points from their bench with Vince Carter being the leader with 16. Grizzlies continue hot start behind Marc Gasol double-double to lead to win over Lakers: Point Guard Mike Conley also adds 19

Marc Gasol is one of the best centers in the NBA today, if not the best. Gasol gets it done on both offense and defense. I love the pieces on this team with Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph, Tony Allen, Courtney Lee, Mike Conley, Kosta Koufos, Jon Leuer, Vince Carter, Quincy Pondexter, Beno Udrih, Tayshaun Prince. This team has some depth and is deep. If they can keep this up we could see them in the 2015 NBA Finals.

Last night the Memphis Grizzlies improve to 13-2 which is tied with the Toronto Raptors for the best record in the NBA right now. The Grizzlies are the top team in the Western Conference, by beating the Los Angeles Lakers 99-93. Marc Gasol achieved a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Michael Conley also added 19 points and 7 assists. Here are the stats for each team.

Last year, had Marc Gasol been healthy most of the season, I feel the Grizzlies would have been a 3 or a 4 seed. Gasol to me is a top five center in the NBA today. This team has an identity and I feel they want to win a championship. The playoffs are extremely tough in the Western Conference. The Memphis Grizzlies have three solid defensive players on the wing with Tony Allen, Tayshaun Prince and Courtney Lee. Courtney Lee has been getting it done offensively this year, Lee is shooting 52 percent from the field, and 56 percent from three. Courtney Lee is averaging 13.5 points per game and over 3 rebounds a game. I think so far from the Western Conference you have to vote Marc Gasol and DeMarcus Cousins as two of your guys in the front court for the All-Star game. What are your thoughts on this 99-93 win? Memphis Grizzlies improve to 6-0 with win over Oklahoma City Thunder

As far as I've ever known, I don't think the Memphis Grizzlies have ever started out the season 6-0 in franchise history. I figured the Grizzlies will be a playoff team, because of the good to great pieces on this team, Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph, Mike Conley, Tony Allen, Courtney Lee and Vince Carter just to name a few. The Memphis Grizzlies improved to 6-0 by beating the Oklahoma City Thunder in a close battle 91-89. I didn't get to watch this game, but I heard it was like two dogs fighting over the same table scraps of food. Here below are the top 5 scorers for each team

Memphis Grizzlies Thoughts

This team has great pieces, but because of how tough the Western Conference is, it's hard for them to get over the hump and advance to the NBA Finals. I often wonder if the Grizzlies were in the East if they would be in the Finals
Vince Carter scored 8 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists in 19 minutes and 8 seconds of playing time off the bench.
Can the Grizzlies keep this hot start going?
How far will the Grizzlies go this season?
Last night if Marc Gasol were healthy all year, they could have been a top 3 team. I'm thinking that if he stayed healthy they could be a top 3 seed, since OKC is struggling with injuries

Oklahoma City Thunder Thoughts

I hate seeing Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook out, but the others guys get a chance to play. Watching this team suffer injuries making me wonder where they will finish
When Durant and Westbrook come back, I still want to see the other guys get to play more. You can get away with running offenses through Durant and Westbrook during the season, but when the playoffs come, this team has to find some other scoring options. I suggest insert Reggie Jackson into the starting lineup, or Anthony Morrow for three point shooting. Perry Jones needs to play more. You could go a five man of Serge Ibaka, Perry Jones, Kevin Durant, Anthony Morrow and Russell Westbrook. Having Reggie Jackson come off the bench to provide a scoring bunch will help this team in the playoffs.
When you turnover the ball over 17 times to Memphis Grizzlies 8 times, it's not going to help you win ball games.

Final Thoughts

Welcome to day 15 of my 30 day blog series titled "30 Days 30 Grades". Today we are going to talk about Southwest Division NBA Team Memphis Grizzlies off-season grade. Here are the four things I'm going to do , 1) I'm going to give my Grizzlies off-season grade, 2) I'm going to talk about the Memphis players added to the team, whether it be through the draft, free agency, trade or claimed off of waivers, 3) I'm going to talk about the Grizzlies players subtracted from the team, and finally 4) I'm going to give the reason or reasons why I gave the Memphis Grizzlies the off-season grade that I gave them.

Mike Conley scores 20: Grizzlies achieved another overtime win over the Thunder: Grizzlies lead the series 2-1 over OKC

The Memphis Grizzlies in this series figured out a way to play good to incredible defense on the Oklahoma City Thunder. I think the Thunder are playing too obvious by throwing the ball to small forward Kevin Durant or athletic speedy point guard Russell Westbrook. For the Thunder to win game 4 to even the series they must not only get Durant, Westbrook involved but find a way to get the bench going. Last night for the second game in a row the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder in overtime. The Grizzlies won 98-95. Point guard Mike Conley lead the way for Memphis with 20 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and had 8 of 14 shooting. Zach Randolph didn't shoot good from the field but made up for it with his rebounding and passing. Power forward Z-Bo scored 16 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Tony Allen scored 16 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Big man and top 5 NBA center, Marc Gasol scored 14 points, 8 rebounds and shot 7 of 14 from the field. Point guard Beno Udrih added 12 points, 2 assists and 2 rebounds in 14 minutes of playing time. Beno Udrih has been surprising in this series. Do you feel the Grizzlies will defeat the Thunder? How many watch the Memphis Grizzlies VS Oklahoma City Thunder on TNT last night? I wasn't sure which direction at the end of the game this was going to go. What did you think about this game? Last night the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder in overtime 111-105. Power forward Zach Randolph lead the way for Memphis with 25 points, 6 rebounds on 10 of 20 shooting. Point guard Mike Conley achieved double-double status. Conley scored 19 points, 12 assists, 7 rebounds and shot 7 of 16 from the field. Top 5 NBA center Marc Gasol scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Courtney Lee scored 16 points, 3 rebounds and shot 6 of 9 from the field. Point guard Beno Udrih added 14 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and shot 6 of 8 in 14 minutes off the bench. Do you feel that the Grizzlies will win this series? Overtime win by Grizzlies leads them to clinch 7th seed and 50th win: Power forward Zach Randolph achieves a double-double

Did anyone watch the game last night on ESPN between the Dallas Mavericks and the Memphis Grizzlies? I felt like it was like two bobcats fighting for the same scrap of food. Dallas and Memphis were fighting to not to have to play the San Antonio Spurs. The Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Dallas Mavericks 106-105 to clinch the 7th seed and win their 50th game of the season. Power forward Zach Randolph lead the way for the Grizzlies with 27 points and 14 rebounds. Point guard Mike Conley scored 22 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Big man and top 5 center Marc Gasol scored 19 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists. Tony Allen scored 13 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Courtney Lee added 11 points and 3 assists. Grizzlies make the playoffs with win over Suns

The Memphis Grizzlies are playing incredible basketball. In the Grizzlies last 45 games they are 32-13. I think if Gasol wasn't injured for part of this season they would have been a 5th seed in the Western Conference. The Memphis Grizzlies clinched a playoff spot by beating the Phoenix Suns 97-91. Power forward Zach Randolph lead the way for the Grizzlies with 32 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and had 15 of 25 shooting (60%). Mike Miller played incredible off the bench scoring 21 points on 8 of 11 shooting from the field, and 5 of 6 from three point land. Big man and top 5 NBA center Marc Gasol, scored 18 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Point guard out of Ohio State Michael Conley scored 14 points, 7 assists and 3 rebounds. Congratulations to the Memphis Grizzlies for clinched the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. What have you thought about this season for the Grizzlies? In spite the Suns didn't make the playoffs, I'm impressed with the way they played this season. I thought they would be a top 5 worst NBA team. Grizzlies hold top Eastern Conference Pacers to 71 points. Grizzlies win behind Conley scoring 21:

The Memphis Grizzlies are an interesting Western Conference basketball team. I believed they were going to be a 5 seed this season. I'm going to stick with that prediction in spite they are 3 1/2 games of the Blazers. The Grizzlies played good defense and defeated the top Eastern Conference team the Indiana Pacers 82-71. Point guard out of Ohio State, Mike Conley lead the way with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Zach Randolph achieved double-double status. Z-Bo scored 18 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. Mike Miller scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and shot 4 out of 6 from downtown. Top 5 NBA center and defensive big man Marc Gasol added 10 points, 9 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 assists. TayShaun Prince good shooting night leads Grizzlies to win over Wizards

I think the Memphis Grizzlies are an exciting basketball team. I think they would have been a top 5 or 6 seed had Marc Gasol not been injured. Prince scored 21 points, 6 rebounds, shot 8 of 11 from the field and 2 of 3 from three point range. Underrated point guard Mike Conley scored 20 points, 7 assists and 3 rebounds. Zach Randolph added a double-double. Z-Bo scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Marc Gasol scored 10 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks. Mike Miller added 10 points in almost 26 minutes off the bench. Miller shot 2 of 3 from downtown. Marcin Gortat who is an underrated center added 16 points and 8 rebounds. Trevor Ariza scored 15 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, shot 5 of 9 from the field and 4 of 6 from downtown. Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol have double-doubles to help Grizzlies defeat Warriors in overtime

Say what you want about Zach Randolph. I find that he fits in great in Memphis Grizzlies. Last night against the Warriors showed again why. Z-Bo scored 21 points, and pulled down 12 rebounds to help the Memphis Grizzlies defeat the Golden State Warriors 88-81 in overtime. Mike Conley scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Marc Gasol also had a double-double. Gasol had 18 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, and blocked 4 shots. The Memphis Grizzlies are now 7-5, and are currently the 8th seed in the Western Conference. For the Golden State Warriors Stephen Curry sat out due to a concussion he suffered on Monday. Klay Thompson lead the Warriors in scoring with 21 points. David Lee scored 18 points and pulled down 8 rebounds. Harrison Barnes got to start. Barnes scored 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Andrew Bogut had a double-double. Grizzlies win series over Thunder 4 games to 1

I think for the Oklahoma City Thunder not having Russell Westbrook really hurt this series. The Grizzlies are moving on to the Western Conference Finals against either the San Antonio Spurs or the Golden State Warriors. The Grizzlies were lead by Zach Randolph who had a double double with 28 points and 14 rebounds. Michael Conley also achieved double double status with 13 points and 11 assists while pulling down 7 rebounds. Tony Allen scored 11 points and pulled down 3 rebounds while shooting 4 out of 6 from the field. For the Oklahoma City Thunder who went to the NBA Finals last year Kevin Durant lead the Thunder in scoring. Durant scored 21 points, 8 rebounds, 7 turnovers, 6 assists and 2 blocks. Durant shot 5 out of 21 from the field. When you shoot that bad it doesn't help your team at all. Serge Ibaka scored 17 points, 8 rebounds and had 3 blocks. Bayless scores 30 to lead Grizzlies to victory over the Celtics

Jerryd Bayless fits in very well to me in Memphis. I don't feel I've ever seen Bayless play as good as he is right now for the Memphis Grizzlies. Sometimes all it takes is getting in in the right system. Last night against the Boston Celtics the 6 foot 3 point guard out of Arizona scored 30 points on 11 of 20 shooting to lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a victory over the Boston Celtics 110-106. Darrell Arthur who started in play of the injured Marc Gasol had 18 points and 7 rebounds. Zach Randolph recorded his 40th double double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds. For the Boston Celtics Paul Pierce who to me is an amazing small forward lead the way for the Celtics with 26 points. Pierce also had 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Jordan Crawford who I feel was a great pickup for Boston scored 21 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Jeff Green added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Grizzlies game winner in overtime helps defeat the Thunder 90-89

The Memphis Grizzlies I haven't given enough credit to lately. Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph in the post is great. Tayshaun Prince a solid defender and can knock down threes. Tony Allen a good defender and the play of Michael Conley. Jerryd Bayless is playing solid off the bench as well. Well last night the Memphis Grizzlies played the Oklahoma City Thunder and talk about one amazing game. Marc Gasol hit the game winner in overtime with a tip in off of Zach Randolph's miss with 0.8 seconds left. The Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 90-89. Michael Conley lead the way for the Grizzlies with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Jerryd Bayless scored 20 points and hit a game tying 3 pointer in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime. Zach Randolph scored a double double. Z-Bo had 15 points and 18 rebounds. Marc Gasol also scored a double double with 14 points and 15 rebounds. For the Oklahoma City Thunder Kevin Durant lead the way with 32 points and 8 rebounds. Russell Westbrook scored 20 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Kevin Martin added 17 points off the bench. Zach Randolph's 30 points helps Grizzlies even the series at 3-3

I finally got an NBA Playoff prediction partically right. I predicted this series would go to seven games. The Thunder was leading the series 3-2 but the Memphis Grizzlies took game 6 over the Thunder 95-83. Zach Randolph who has been amazing for the most part in these playoffs lead with 30 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. Randolph shot 12 of 22 from the field. OJ Mayo added 16 points. Michael Conley achieved a double double by scoring 11 points and dishing out 12 assists. For the Oklahoma City Thunder Russell Westbrook led the Thunder in scoring with 27 points on 11 of 22 shooting. James Harden added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists off the bench. Kevin Durant scored 11 points and pulled down 7 rebounds. Durant didn't have a good game as he only shot 3 of 14 from the field and 1 out of 9 from three point range. His shots were off tonight and Battier was playing some good D on Durant. Congratulations to the Memphis Grizzlies for winning this game and forcing a game 7.
