Lakers get their first win of the season: Kobe and Lin score 21 each

Charles Barkley was saying on Inside the NBA on TNT, that he was not going to eat a meal until the Los Angeles Lakers won a game. I don't think Sir Charles is going to have to worry anymore. Last night the L.A. Lakers shocked me and probably many others, when they beat the Charlotte Hornets 107-92. Kobe and Jeremy Lin each lead with 21 points. Here are the stats for both teams.

Los Angeles Lakers Thoughts

1. I personally believe that the Lakers big three are Kobe Bryant, Jeremy Lin and Carlos Boozer.  I would run plays to get both Lin and Boozer involved more in the offense.  Kobe shouldn't have to take more than 20-25 shots a game to win.  
2. This is a great win for the Lakers, against a team that is rising up the Charlotte Hornets
3. I personally think that picking up Ed Davis was great for this team.  Nice backup big off the bench.  Shooting 5 for 5 in this game was great for him.
4. I think that this win is a motivator, and will get their confidence up.  I don't believe they will make the playoffs, but I have them as a close but no cigar team. 
5. Good to great shooting night from 4 of the top 5 scorers.  Kobe didn't have a great shooting night, but his teammates stepped up tonight.  

Charlotte Hornets Thoughts

1. At 3-4 right now,  I feel that this team will start to win more games.  I personally loved that this team added Lance Stephenson during the off-season.  Great pickup for the Hornets
2. This team will make the playoffs, because the Eastern Conference is bad.  It's better than last year though.  Only so many teams I feel are guarantees in my book this year ( Bulls, Cavs, Heat, Wizards, Raptors)  Hornets could miss the playoffs, but I don't believe they will
3. The two best players on this team Al Jefferson and Kemba Walker combined for 6 of 11 from the free throw line.  You have to make free throws to give your team a chance to win the game.

Getting a win for the L.A. Lakers is good, winning by 15 is ever better.  Congratulations to the L.A. Lakers for their first win of the season after dropping their first five games.  This team can bounce back.
