In Spite Dwight Howard scores 46 Atlanta takes Game 1 from Orlando
Dwight Howard played a very good game by scoring 46 points and pulling down 19 rebounds on 16 of 23 shooting. It wasn't enough though as the Atlanta Hawks takes game 1 from the Orlando Magic 103-93. Joe Johnson led the Hawks with 25 points , 5 rebounds, 5 assists on 9 out of 16 shooting. Jamal Crawford 6th man of the year candidate added 23 points, Al Horford added 16 points and 6 rebounds, Josh Smith added 15 points and 8 rebounds. For the Orlando Magic Dwight Howard of course led the way with 46 points and Jameer Nelson scored 27 points pulled down 6 rebounds and only had 1 assist. I think the Atlanta Hawks figured out there were going to run there offense through Dwight Howard. We will see if the Hawks learned from last year's disaster in the NBA playoffs If I were Orlando I would mix it up and get Atlanta to try and double team Howard. Orlando players need to play better the rest of the NBA Playoffs if they want to get out of the first round. I thought that someone besides Dwight Howard and Jameer Nelson would have been more effective. I was shocked that Jason Richardson only scored four points. I think they need to find a way to get J-Rich more involved in the offense. When Dwight Howard gets double teams J-Rich should find a way to get open and then knock down a three pointer or a 15-20 foot jump shot. Other people need to step up for Orlando and Howard and Nelson can't do all the work.
