Pelicans set records to defeat the Timberwolves 139-91.

Friday night the New Orleans Pelicans put on an offensive clinic setting all kinds of records.  At the end of the first quarter the Pelicans were ahead of the Minnesota Timberwolves  43-19.  If you thought the first quarter was crazy,  the Pelicans just kept getting better all night.  At halftime the Pelicans set a record scoring of 80 points in the first half,  someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that is the record for a scoring from an NBA team in the first half ever.  The Pelicans were ahead 80-44 at the half.  The Timberwolves weren't much better at the end of the third quarter as they trailed 118-72.  If I were the T-Wolves and  I  were getting blown out that bad after three quarters, I would have just forfeit the game.  I know you never give up until the final buzzer, but this game was just that bad.  Minnesota looked like a bunch of tired dogs chasing after cars, and looking as lost as someone trying to find there way back home.  The New Orleans Pelicans defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves in a blowout stomping fashion 139-91.  Here are the stats for each team.

Top 5 New Orleans Pelicans Scorers

PG- Jrue Holiday- 24 points, 9 assists, 9/10 FG, 4/4 FT, 2/2 3PTFG
PF- Anthony Davis- 22 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, 2 steals, 9/13 FG, 4/5 FT
SG- Austin Rivers- 17 points, 3 assists, 3 rebounds, 8/9 FG, 1/1 3PTFG, in 25 minutes and 9 seconds
PF- Ryan Anderson- 16 points, 6 rebounds, 6/15 FG, 4/8 3PTFG
SF/ SG- Tyreke Evans- 16 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, 6/11 FG, 3/6 FT, 1/1 3PTFG

Top 5 Minnesota Timberwolves Scorers

SF/SG- Andrew Wiggins- 20 points, 5 rebounds, 7/10 FG, 4/6 FT, 2/2 3PTFG
SF/SG- Corey Brewer- 18 points, 4 steals, 2 assists, 6/10 FG, 6/9 FT, 0/2 3PTFG
PG/SG- Zach LaVine- 13 points, 4 rebounds, 5/12 FG, 3/3 FT, 0/1 3PTFG
SF- Chase Budinger- 9 points, 2 rebounds, 2/5 FG, 4/4 FT, 1/3 3PTFG
C/PF- Gorgui Dieng- 7 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 1/2 FG, 5/8 FT

New Orleans Pelicans Thoughts

  1. I don't think I've ever heard of a scoring clinic like this ever just for four quarters of a game, unless of course it's in a video game like 2K, NBA Live or some other NBA related video game.
  2. Pelicans were smart trading Nerlens Noel for Jrue Holiday.  Pelicans have their point guard in Jrue Holiday as long as he can remain healthy.
  3. Austin Rivers was finding his shot tonight.  He to me looked like an improved player this season.  It takes time for some players to find their touch.  A solid role player off the bench.
  4. A good starting five, then a few good bench players if remain healthy, I feel will make the playoffs in a tough Western Conference.
  5. Great team effort and amazing offensive clinic by the Pelicans, setting all kinds of records.

Minnesota Timberwolves Thoughts

  1. Andrew Wiggins was the best player for the T-Wolves tonight. I want to see Wiggins be more aggressive and be the leader of this franchise. I'm seeing Wiggins as more of a second or third option right now.
  2. Zach LaVine played 31 minutes and 3 seconds tonight, and didn't have 1 assist in this game, that is pathetic from your point guard.
  3. I'd like to see what happens when you start Wiggins at SG, and Brewer at SF, with Kevin Martin coming off the bench as a 6th man.
  4. I know it's early in the season, but at 2-6 this team has to find a way to start winning games, or prepare to be in the lottery.
  5. I think this team has some good pieces, but getting it all to come together is the toughest part, plus playing in the Western Conference.
