Welcome to my 30 day blog series titled "30 Days 30 Grades". Today is day 16. I am going to talk about 2013-2014 top Eastern Conference NBA Team Miami Heat. Here are the four things I am going to do , 1) Give my Miami Heat off-season grade, 2) Give a list of Heat players added to the roster this season, whether it be through the draft, sign and trade, sign from free agency, or claimed off of waivers, 3) Give a list of Miami players subtracted from the roster this season , and finally number 4) Give the reason or reasons why I give the Miami Heat the off-season grade that I give them.
Miami Heat Off-Season Grade: B
Miami Heat Players Added: Shabazz Napier, Tyler Johnson, Shannon Brown, Danny Granger, Josh McRoberts, Luol Deng, Shawne Williams, Reggie Williams
Miami Heat Players Subtracted: Lebron James, James Jones, Rashard Lewis, Shane Battier (who retired)
Why did I give the Miami Heat a B? I admit I feel they took a bit of a hit losing Lebron James, James Jones, Rashard Lewis, Shane Battier and even possibly Ray Allen, I don't know how 2014 NBA Draft point guard Shabazz Napier will pan out. I know nothing about Tyler Johnson. Shannon Brown I have always found to be underrated. Brown can defend and has good athleticism. I like the pickup of Danny Granger, my only concern about Granger is can he remain healthy? Josh McRoberts is a good power forward, although not a great one. I actually thought McRoberts was going to be a bust in the NBA,but I was wrong. My favorite pickup of this off-season for the Miami Heat was small forward defender Luol Deng. I watched Deng's game when he was in Chicago. I loved that he could score, but his defense was good. Last year between the Chicago Bulls and the Cleveland Cavaliers, Luol Deng averaged over 16 points per game and 6 rebounds per game. I like the pickup of Shawne Williams and Reggie Williams. Reggie Williams is a career 37 percent three point shooter. While I don't think Miami Heat will be as great as they were last year, because Lebron James is now gone, they will still be a good NBA team. So Miami Heat fans I am confident that this team will make the playoffs. My only knock was that they didn't go get a rebounder like Kris Humphries, other than that I think Miami Heat had a solid off-season. What grade would you have given the Miami Heat? Do you agree or disagree with my grade? Why or why not? Send me your comments. Thank you for reading Pro Basketball Hoops Land.
