30 Days 30 Grades Day 21: Oklahoma City Thunder off-season grade

Welcome to the 30 day blog series titled "30 Days 30 Grades.  Today is day 21 of the series. I am going to be talking about the off-season of  top 3 NBA Western Conference Team Oklahoma City Thunder.   Here are the four things I'm going to do, 1)  I'm going to give my off-season grade, 2) I'm going to give a list of Thunder players added to the roster whether it be through the draft, free agency, trades or claimed off of waivers,  3)  I'm going to give a list of OKC Thunder players subtracted from the roster and finally, 4) I'm going to give the reason or reasons why I give Northwest Division NBA Team Oklahoma City Thunder the off-season grade that I give them.

OKC Thunder off-season grade:  B

Thunder Players Added:  Semaj Christon, Josh Huestis, Mitch McGary,  Anthony Morrow, Sebastian Telfair, Sofoklis Schortsanitis

Oklahoma City Thunder Players Subtracted:  Caron Butler, Giorgus Printezis, Thabo Sefolosha, Hasheem Thabeet,  Derek Fisher (retired)

Why did I give the Oklahoma City Thunder an off-season report card grade of a B?  I would have given them an A but I didn't like the pickup of Sebastian Telfair.  I personally don't get it.  Maybe Telfair will surprise me.  I'm guessing veteran presence, but why pick up Telfair who has a career average of 7.4 points per game, 3.5 assists per game, 1.6 rebounds per game, 39% field goal shooting, 32% three point shooting, 77% free throw shooting.  Surely there was a better point guard in free agency that the Thunder could have picked up.  Why go and get Semaj Christon and sign Telfair?  I love that the Thunder drafted 21st pick in 2014 NBA Draft Mitch McGary out of Michigan. McGary could play some power forward when Ibaka plays center. McGary add some depth to the power forward and center position for the Oklahoma City Thunder, smart draft choice.   I like that the Thunder traded to get the draft rights to point guard Semaj Christon.  Christon averaged 17 points per game, 4.2 assists per game for Xavier. Christon was named First Team All-Big East in 2014.   I personally would like to see what Christon can do for the Thunder.  Another addition that the Thunder picked up was three point shooting guard Anthony Morrow. Morrow averaged with the New Orleans Pelicans 8.4 points per game, 1.8 rebounds per game, 45% field goal shooting, 45% 3 point shooting, 82% free throw percentage.  Morrow was signed this off-season to a 3 year 10 million dollar contract.  Morrow will provide a great spark off the bench.   So what are your thoughts on me giving the Thunder a B for the off-season? Do you agree or disagree with my grade?, why or why not? Send me your comments. Thank you for reading Pro Basketball Hoops Land.
