Dirk Nowitzki's 48 points on 15 shots helps Mavericks take game 1 over Thunder

Dirk Nowitzki what can I say about him that may not have already been said. He's a 7 footer who plays the power forward position. I first started watching basketball in 1985 back when Larry Bird played. I thought back then he was one of the greatest power forwards in the league. Dirk Nowitzki though is different. He to me is the best power forward I've seen in a long time. He can shoot the three, pass the ball and has decent court vision. He is the first player at the power forward I've seen who shoots 50 percent from the field, hits 40 percent from three point line and shoots 90 percent from the free throw line. Well tonight he scored 48 points while only taking 15 shots. How did he do that you may wonder. He got to shoot 24 free throws. Someone shooting 24 free throws you would be thinking he's got to miss one or two sometime right. Well tonight Dirk made all 24 free throws and shot 12 of 15 from the field. His scoring tonight helped the Mavericks defeat the Thunder 121-112 to have the Mavs take a 1-0 lead in the series. He also had 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Jason Terry shined tonight and added 24 points off the bench. Terry hit 4 out of 8 from downtown. Another spark tonight besides Dirk and Terry was a point guard named J.J. Barea. J.J. Barea played amazing tonight and was getting inside. He added 21 points on 8 of 12 shooting in over 16 minutes. Shawn Marion scored 11 points and pulled down 7 rebounds. For the Oklahoma City Thunder Kevin Durant led with 40 points, pulled down 8 rebounds and had 5 assists. Durant shot 10 of 18 from the field and made 18 of 19 from the free throw line. Russell Westbrook added 20 points while only shooting 3 of 15 from the field. Westbrook though went to the free throw line 18 times and made 14. Serge Ibaka added 17 points and 6 rebounds but had no blocks tonight. James Harden added 12 points on 5 of 9 shooting. This game had a lot of scoring which I figured it probably would with Nowitzki and Durant on the court. Congratulations to the Dallas Mavericks for taking Game 1. I must give credit to the Thunder in the first quarter how they were guarding the three point line very well. I admit they tried there best to stop Nowitzki but he's got that high release shot that's hard to guard.
