30 Days 30 Grades: Day 7 : Southwest Division Western Conference Dallas Mavericks

Welcome to Day 7 of the 30 day blog series "30 Days 30 Grades".  Today I am going to talk about the off-season of the Southwest Division Western Conference NBA Team the Dallas Mavericks.  I am going to give my team off-season grade, the players that were added whether it be through free agency, trades and the 2014 NBA Draft.  I will also talk about players being subtracted from the team leaving.

Dallas Mavericks Off-Season Grade:  A

Dallas Mavericks Players Added:  Chandler Parsons, Tyson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Jameer Nelson, Al-Farouq Aminu, Richard Jefferson, Erik Griffin, Greg Smith, Ivan Johnson, Emir Predidzic

Dallas Mavericks Players Subtracted:  Vince Carter, Jose Calderon, Shane Larkin, Samuel Dalembert, Wayne Ellington, Tadija Dragicevic, DeJuan Blair, Shawn Marion

Why do I give the Dallas Mavericks an A?  I believe that they got an A because of trading for Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton.  I'm not huge on Felton as much as Chandler. When healthy Chandler is a great defensive presence in the post area.  The last time the Mavericks won the Title in 2011 Chandler was on that squad.  Between having Dirk Nowitzki at 7 foot tall playing power forward, and Tyson Chandler at 7 foot 1 playing the center position, the Dallas Mavericks have size in the post.  I like the pickup of Chandler Parsons too even though they may have overpaid.  I like Parsons because he is a young piece to add to this veteran team.  Richard Jefferson I wish could be like he was when he was on the New Jersey Nets, but he is a solid role player off the bench.   Why I couldn't give them an A+ was the fact that they didn't resign Vince Carter who was their sixth man?  I want to know who their 6th man is going to end up being.  So what are your thoughts on the Dallas Mavericks off-season?  Send me your comments.
