30 Days 30 Grades: Day 6: The Cleveland Cavaliers

Welcome to Day 6 of the 30 day blog series "30 Days 30 Grades.  Today it is day 6 of the 30 NBA teams.  Today I am going to talk about the Cleveland Cavaliers.  Cleveland Cavaliers had an interesting off-season with the return of Lebron James and picking up another star in Kevin Love.   So I am going to give you my team grade, the players that the Cavs added through free agency, draft night trades or off of waivers, the players subtracted through free agency, trades or waived.

Cleveland Cavaliers Team Grade:  A+

Players Added:  Joe Harris, Alex Kirk, Lebron James, James Jones, Mike Miller, Shawn Marion, Edin Bavic,  Christian Diejer, Brendan Haywood, Ilkan Karamen, Kevin Love, John Lucas III, Erik Murphy, Dwight Powell, Malcolm Thomas

Players Subtracted: Luol Deng, Spencer Hawes, CJ Miles, Anthony Bennett, Carrick Felix, Alonzo Gee, Scotty Hopson, Jarrett Jack, Sergey Karasev, Tyler Zeller, Andrew Wiggins

Why I did I give the Cleveland Cavaliers an A+?  I for one think it is great for the Cavs to have Lebron James back on the team. I feel that this time he will have a better supporting cast than he did last time.  It will be interesting to see how well Lebron and Kyrie play together.   I admit my only knocks about the Cavs trading for Kevin Love are these reasons 1) Kevin Love doesn't play good defense and 2)  Andrew Wiggins wasn't still on this team.   I do like that they have Kevin Love for the purpose of rebounding.  Love averages 25 points per game and 12 rebounds.  Lebron didn't have a good rebounding team when he was with the Miami Heat.   So now the Cavs have a big three of Lebron, Kyrie and Kevin Love.   I think having Mike Miller on this team is genius in the fact that Miller can hurt you from downtown.  Mike Miller can come off the bench and provide some scoring knocking down shots from three point land.   James Jones is another sharpshooter from 3 point range. The only pickup I'm impressed with is Shawn Marion ( I know that NBA.com says that he is still on the Mavs roster, but according to Wikipedia and ESPN.com he is on the roster.  I just think he hasn't signed with them yet. Shawn Marion is a great pickup for the Cavs because he can provide such interesting depth to this team.  I could see the possibly of at times a lineup with Varejao, Lebron, Marion, Waiters and Kyrie out on the floor.   I think Shawn Marion is an underrated NBA player.  He was great for the Suns and incredible for the Mavs. I think Marion will be good when he's on the Cavs.  So what did you think about the Cleveland Cavaliers off-season?  What grade would you give them?  Do you think they will win the 2015 NBA Finals? Send me your comments and thank you for reading Pro Basketball Hoops Land.  You can purchase Cavs merchandise on here if you like through my blog.
