30 Days 30 Grades: Day 5: Chicago Bulls Off-Season Grades

Welcome to Day 5 of the 30 days of blog posts 30 Days 30 Grades . Today I am going to talk the off-season moves of the Chicago Bulls.  What players they added through trades, free agency or through the draft, What players they subtracted through letting them walk to another team or traded away.  First I will give my grade, then the additions and subtractions of the team, and the reasons why I give the grade that I did.

Chicago Bulls Off-season Grade:  A+

Players Added:  Doug McDermott,  Cameron Bailstow, Nikola Mirotic, Pau Gasol, Aaron Brooks, Tadija Dragicevic

Players Subtracted:  DJ Augustin, Anthony Randolph, Greg Smith, Carlos Boozer, Lou Amundson, Ronnie Brewer, Mike James

Why do I give the Chicago Bulls an A+ ?  I think that trading for the draft rights to Doug McDermott was a smart move by the Bulls.   The Bulls are a good defensive team, but sometimes they struggle scoring.  I don't know what Dougie will be like in the NBA, but in college he was a scoring machine.  If he provide some scoring whether it be he ends up starting, or coming off the bench it will help huge for the Bulls.  My favorite pickup of the Bulls was 7 footer Pau Gasol.  I"m not a fan of his defense.  Gasol will have Noah down in the post to help him out on the defensive end.  Gasol can step down and knock down the jumpers if necessary.  Pau Gasol can get you some rebounds.  I like the three man depth between the center and power forward position of Joakim Noah, Pau Gasol and Taj Gibson.  Gasol can add some size to this Bulls roster because of him being 7 foot tall.  Am I thinking the Bulls could win a championship this year? Maybe if Derrick Rose was to remain healthy.  I also like the pickup of Aaron Brooks.  Losing DJ Augustin to the Detroit Pistons was bad, but Aaron Brooks I feel will make up for it.  I don't know much about Cameron Bailstow, Nikola Mirotic or Tadija Dragicevic.  To me Gasol, McDermott and Brooks alone leads me to give this team an A+.  I think the only thing the Bulls are missing is another shooting guard.  Kirk Hinrich can play either guard spot, but it would be better to have a true two guard.  I thought that they might have thought about bringing back Ben Gordon.  I heard that T-Mac is thinking about coming out of retirement.  If he could remain healthy and would accept coming off the bench, I would like that addition.  What grade would you have given the Bulls this off-season?   Send me your comments about this.  Thank you for reading Pro Basketball Hoops Land.
