30 Days 30 Grades: Day 2 : The Boston Celtics Off-Season Grade

Welcome to day 2 of the 30 Days 30 Grades post.  Today I am going to give my grade, and some thoughts on how I think the Boston Celtics did during the off-season.   My list consists of players added meaning through the draft, a trade or signed through free agency.  On players subtracted my list consist of players either traded away or lost to free agency to another team.

My Grade for the Boston Celtics is C+

Players Added:  Marcus Smart, James Young, Evan Turner, Marcus Thornton, Tyler Zeller

Players Subtracted:  Kris Humphries, Jerryd Bayless

Why do i give the Boston Celtics a C+?  I think that they could have had a better off-season by trying to for Greg Monroe, Chandler Parsons or someone like that.   I don't think their off-season was great, but I don't think it was horrible either.  I like the drafting of Marcus Smart because if Rajon Rondo leaves which I suspect he will, I think Smart could step in and be the teams point guard.  Marcus Thornton was a solid pickup because he can provide some scoring pop off of the bench.  James Young was an interesting draft choice and I hope to watch him provide some good athleticism.  Evan Turner is the most confusing signing I've seen.  If he can score like he did in Philly then I like it.  The thing is Turner is only a 2 year deal so I'm okay with that.  I didn't see him on the ESPN lineup but then I go to Wikipedia and seen him on the roster.  So if anyone knows anything about that I ask you to please enlighten me about this.   Tyler Zeller is not great, but I think he's a decent backup.   I think that Boston is going to be playing rebuilding mode again for next year.  They should have some cap space next year because I believe that Jeff Green will be a free agent, and either Rondo will be gone which will add more cap space, or traded away.   I think this is going to be another bad season for the Celtics.  I was surprised that there was no trade to bring in Kevin Love or someone else.  So what are your thoughts on the Celtics off-season?
