I am starting a series of the posts for the month of September called 30 Days 30 Grades. Each day I will give a list of players added and subtracted from their teams this off season. Players traded away or waived will be in the players subtracted category. Players drafted or signed in Free Agency or are their through a trade will be in the added category. I want to remind all of my readers that I am writing all my posts from the perspective of an NBA fan. I am going alphabetically through the teams. So today I will start on the Atlanta Hawks and give my grade of their off season. See below the team name, players, added, subtracted and my grade.
Atlanta Hawks Grade- B-
Players Added: Adreian Payne, Lamar Patterson, Walter Tavares, Kent Bazemore, Thabo Sefolosha
Players Subtracted: Cartier Martin, Lou Williams, Sofoklis Schortsanitis, John Salmons
I wanted to give this team a better grade than a B-, but I couldn't because I feel that Atlanta should have tried for Chandler Parsons, Carmelo Anthony or an unlikely candidate Lebron James. I do believe that drafting Adreian Payne was a good move because he adds some depth to the power forward and center position. I admit I don't know much about Lamar Patterson or Walter Tavares. I think picking up Kent Bazemore was solid because he improved last year getting more playing time when he was with the Los Angeles Lakers. Thabo Sefolosha while he can knock some three pointers at times, he can defend. I think Sefolosha gives the Hawks a solid defender on the wings. I don't think Atlanta had a great off season but, I don't think it was too bad. So what are your thoughts on the moves they made this off season? What grade would you have given them?
