2014 NBA Draft: Top 3 Players to pick from: Cleveland Cavaliers and the number one pick

The Cleveland Cavaliers have the number one pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.  Who do you believe they should take?  I have a list of three players they should draft with the number one pick.   Do you believe that I would be right about this?

  1. Jabari Parker-  Why do I have Jabari Parker over Joel Embiid as the first choice if I'm the Cavs?  I believe that you have to take the NBA ready prospect with the number one pick.  I do think Joel Embiid could be a great player, or could be injury prone like Greg Oden.   Jabari I believe will become a 20 to 30 points per game scorer in the NBA.  My only fear about Jabari Parker is his defense.  If he improves his defense then he would be an incredible NBA player.  Jabari reminds me a bit of Carmelo Anthony, but I don't believe he will have the ego of Melo.

      2.  Andrew Wiggins-  I think after Parker, you must select Wiggins.  I still would go with Parker first though to help take the load off of Kyrie.  Wiggins will provide you with some athleticism and some highlight dunks.   I don't believe that Wiggins could lead a franchise compared to Jabari Parker.   Wiggins has better defense than Jabari Parker.  If you want athleticism you go with Wiggins. If you want an NBA franchise leader, I'd go with Jabari.  I think that Andrew Wiggins could be as athletic as Vince Carter.  I'm more on Wiggins as a second scoring option for the Cavs.  I don't know what will happen with Kyrie Irving yet.   I do think Wiggins will be an all star.

   3. Joel Embiid-  Embiid would be my third choice.  Could it be possible that passing on Embiid could come back and bite the Cavs?  I believe yes unless he turns injury prone like Greg Oden.  If Embiid can remain healthy then I would go with him as my first choice.  I just don't know.  I keep hearing the media talk about Lebron coming back to Cleveland.  If the Cavs believe this will happen then you have to select Embiid then.  I'm not of the belief that Lebron will come back to Cleveland.  The reasoning of Lebron not coming back to Cleveland leaves me to select Jabari Parker with the first pick.  Embiid could possibly though become a dream for this franchise like Hakeem was for the Houston Rockets.   I'm going to compare Embiid to Greg Oden and Hakeem Olajuwon because I don't know what we are getting with 7 foot Kansas center Joel Embiid.

So with my list of the top 3 players I would select if I were Cleveland, What do you agree with?  What do you disagree with?  Do you think they would select someone else?  I admit I don't know who they will pick.  I don't claim to be a basketball expert.  I just am an NBA fan who enjoys this game and blogging about it.  Send me your comments. Thank you for reading Pro Basketball Hoops Land.  Good luck to you Cavaliers fans on draft night.
