2014 NBA Draft: Orlando Magic Top 3 Targets for picks 4 and 12

I've been doing a 2014 NBA Draft projection of  three players for each pick that a certain team could target.  This article is all about the Orlando Magic and the players they should go for with the 4th pick and the 12 th pick.  I want to hear from you.  I want to know what you think.  I admit I don't watch as much college basketball as maybe many of you get to.   Here are the three players I believe that the Orlando Magic should target with the 4th pick.

Top 3 Players to target with the 4th pick:

  1. Noah Vonleh-  Why am I high on the Magic selecting this player with the 4th pick?  I believe that Vonleh could stretch the defense with his three point shooting.   Vonleh is aggressive on both end of the floor hitting the glass hard.  I think you pair him up with Nikola Vucevic, and you would have the two V'S in the paint (Vucevic and Vonleh).  I admit I couldn't resist that thought there.   I think Vonleh will be incredible on the offensive end.  I will be honest, I don't get to watch much college ball.  My comparision is picture Kevin Love playing amazing defense.
  2. Julius Randle-  From what I seen of Randle this season,  he didn't do well in the first half.  I still would pick Vonleh over Randle because of the three point shooting.  What I like about what I seen of Randle was, he may not have done well in the first half in the games I saw, but in the second half he came alive.   If Vonleh is off the board, then I would select Julius Randle. I love Randle's rebounding.  Randle reminds me of a Zach Randolph.
  3. Dante Exum-  People are higher on him than I am.  I only question taking him above Vonleh and Randle, because he is the unknown prospect.  Exum a combo guard at 6'6.  I haven't seen his game.  I believe I would only select Exum if Vonleh and Randle by some crazy miracle ar off the board.   I also believe that Orlando can get a point guard with the 12th pick.  Am I crazy for thinking the Magic should select Vonleh over Exum?

Top 3 Orlando Magic players should target with the 12th pick.

  1. Tyler Ennis-  I know this may be a bit of a reach, or a huge reach here.  Ennis pays attention to detail meaning he more than likely won't have a huge number or turnovers.  If he only averages 2-3 turnovers a game. I find that impressive.   Ennis is a coachable player, and a good defender in disrupting the passing lanes.   I believe that Ennis will work hard on his game.  I'm going to make a huge bold and crazy prediction, if Ennis doesn't suffer a lot of injuries, I believe he will be an all star in this league.  If Orlando comes out of this draft selecting Vonleh or Randle, and Ennis I'm a happy fan.  Am I reaching with this pick?  Or do you believe what I believe.
  2. Elfrid Payton-  Another good solid defender who would be on my board.   Elfrid Payton can finish at the rim, is athletic and has good transition defense.  If Ennis is gone, I could live with this pick. What about you?
  3. Adreian Payne-  I'm only suggesting this pick, if the Magic select Exum with the 4th pick.  Payne is a three point shooter, and a good free throw shooter.  I think with Payne having good shooting at the line, he should attack the basket more.  Payne could stretch the defense against opposing teams.   Would be a good locker room leader, and has good intangibles.  Maybe I'm reaching with Payne with the 12th pick.  I think that if Randle and Vonleh are gone, and you select a point guard with the 4th pick, you take Payne.  Would you like a starting five of Vucevic, Payne, Harris, Dipo and Exum.  I think that wouldn't be a bad five.

What are your thoughts Orlando Magic fans on my 4th and 12th pick for  the Magic?  What two players would you select?   Send me your comments. Thank you for reading Pro Basketball Hoops Land. Stay tuned next Thursday night for the 2014 NBA Draft on ESPN.
