30 Days 30 Grades: Day 14: Western Conference Pacific Division Team L.A. Lakers Off-Season Grade

Hi everyone welcome to day 14 of my 30 blog series titled " 30 Days 30 Grades".  Today I am going to talk about Western Conference NBA Team Los Angeles Lakers.  Here are the four things I"m going to do , 1) Give my Lakers off-season Grade,  2)  Give a list of players added to the Lakers roster whether it be through free agency, sign and trade, claimed off of waivers or drafted,  3) Give a list of players subtracted from the Lakers team roster, and finally 4)  Give the reason or reasons why I gave the Lakers the off-season grade that I given them.

L.A. Lakers Off-Season Grade:  B-

Lakers Players Added:  Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson, Carlos Boozer, Ed Davis, Jeremy Lin

L.A. Lakers Players Subtracted:  Kent Bazemore, Pau Gasol, Jordan Farmar, Chris Kaman, Jodie Meeks, Sergei Lishchuk, Kendall Marshall

Why did I give the Pacific Division L.A. Lakers a B-?  I think they could have had a better off-season by landing Melo, Lebron or Luol Deng.  I will give them credit I like the drafting of Julius Randle.  What puzzles me though is you drafted Randle, why did you sign Carlos Boozer and Ed Davis?  Are you planning to play Ed Davis some at the center position?  I would like to see Julius Randle start, but I feel that the Lakers will start Boozer.  I admit I do like Boozer because he can give you at least 13 points a game and 8 rebounds.   Carlos Boozer's production has dropped some since his days in Utah.  He use to be a 20 points and 10 rebounds guy.  If he can put up 15 and 10 for the Lakers that would be solid.  The Lakers needed to get younger in their back-court, so drafting Jordan Clarkson is a solid move.  I hope he will be good because he is from my home state of Missouri.   I like the addition of Jeremy Lin.  If he can play like the Jeremy Lin when he was on the New York Knicks, we could have a Linsanity sighting in L.A.  Lin can add some depth to the Lakers bench.  Ed Davis is not a great big man, but a solid backup big man.  I think having Lin and Boozer will help the Lakers be able to take a little bit of pressure off of Kobe Bryant.  What grade would you give the Lakers for their off-season? Do you agree or disagree with my grade?  Why or why not?  Send me your comments. Thank you for reading Pro Basketball Hoops Land.
