Western Conference Finals Game 1: Spurs win game 1 behind Duncan scoring 27: Ginobili adds 18: Kwahi Leonard plays good defense

Did anyone watch game 1 on TNT between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs?  I did.  The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 122-105, to take a 1-0 series lead over the Thunder.  Here are the top 5 scorers for each team

Top 5 San Antonio Spurs Scorers

  1.  Tim Duncan- 27 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 11/19 FG, 5/6 FT
  2. Manu Ginobili- 18 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds, 7/12 FG, 3/4 3PT FG, 1/1 FT
  3. Kwahi Leonard- 16 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists, 7/16 FG, 1/4- 3PT FG, 1/2 FT
  4. Daniel Green- 16 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 6/7 FG, 4/5 3PT FG
  5. Tony Parker- 14 points, 12 assists, 3 rebounds, 6/12 FG, 2/3 FT

Top 5 Oklahoma City Thunder Scorers

  1. Kevin Durant- 28 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 10/19 FG, 4/7 3PT FG, 4/4 FT
  2. Russell Westbrook- 25 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, 9/21 FG, 1/4 3PTFG, 6/8 FT
  3. Derek Fisher- 16 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, 4/6 FG, 4/6 3PTFG, 4/4 FT
  4. Reggie Jackson- 13 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds, 6/11 FG, 1/2 3PTFG
  5. Caron Butler-  9 points, 4 rebounds, 2/6 FG, 1/4 3PTFG, 4/6FT

What are your thoughts on game 1? I think the Spurs did solid considered having to go against Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. Kwahi Leonard impressed me on defense with his 3 steals. Tim Duncan (Mr. Fundamental) was incredible in the first half. The second half when power forward Nick Collison was on him it was a different story. Two guard Manu Ginobili stepped up big in the second half. I think the problem for the Thunder was when coach Scott Brooks used a small lineup too long. You can't have Kevin Durant play the center position. I think he should have brought in Hasheem Thabeet when they needed a big guy in the lineup. I know Thabeet is challenged on the offensive end, but on defense he could have blocked some shots to keep Tony Parker and Tim Duncan getting into the paint. Scott Brooks should near the end of the 3rd quarter give Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook a rest, so that about two minutes into the fourth quarter coach Scott Brooks could bring back Durant and Westbrook. I think the lineup for game 2 for the Thunder should be Perkins, Collison, Durant, Butler and Westbrook. By having Butler inserted into the starting lineup, it could give the Thunder a 3rd scoring option in the starting lineup. Reggie Jackson would be another option at the two as well. Send me your comments on what you think about game 1. Thank you for reading Pro Basketball Hoops Land. Stayed tuned soon I will have something for the Spurs, Thunder and all of the other 28 NBA Teams.
