Point Guard Brandon Jennings hits game winner to extend Pistons win to 6th straight, Pistons big men Drummond and Monroe add a double-double

I have got to admit, the Detroit Pistons have been playing good basketball the last 6 games.  The departure of Josh Smith to me is the biggest reason why.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel that Brandon Jennings is playing happier than I've ever seen him.  Brandon Jennings has another reason to smile last night.  Last night the Detroit Pistons trailed 104-103, and Brandon Jennings hits the game winning shot, to lead the Detroit Pistons to a 105-104 win over the San Antonio Spurs for their sixth straight victory.  I admit I thought the Spurs would win this game considering they were playing at the AT&T Center in San Antonio Texas.  At one point the Detroit Pistons trailed the 2014 NBA Champs San Antonio Spurs 54-36 in the second quarter.  After trailing by 18, the Pistons went on an 11-0 run to cut the deficit to 54-47.  The Detroit Pistons trailed the San Antonio Spurs 58-49 at halftime.  My personal opinion, it's not how you start that matters as much as how you finish.   Big man Andre Drummond lead the way for the Pistons with 20 points and 17 rebounds.  D.J. Augustin scored 19 points and 5 assists off the bench.  Greg Monroe scored 17 points and 11 rebounds.  Brandon Jennings added 13 points and 7 assists.  In spite that Brandon Jennings had a bad shooting night hitting only 5 of 18 shots,  he hit the most important shot, the dagger into the San Antonio Spurs heart.  Here are the statistical breakdowns for each team

What are your thoughts about this win?  My negative is that the Spurs shot 42% from three, and that the Pistons could have played better perimeter defense, but I feel this is a huge win.  I had the Pistons as my sleeper team during the off-season for making the playoffs, and now with cancer forward Josh Smith gone,  I could end up being right.   Here is the final scores of the last 6 wins for the Detroit Pistons.

Tuesday January 6th-  Detroit: 105  SAS: 104
Sunday January 4th-  Detroit: 114   SAC: 95

The last time the Detroit Pistons lost was on December 21, 2014 to the Brooklyn Nets 110-105 at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn New York.   I know many people would like to see the Brandon Jennings game winning shot here.  So I encourage you to check out the video below, thank you for reading Pro Basketball Hoops Land.  The place where you can read articles, send comments and on the left side of this blog, purchase Detroit Pistons merchandise.
